Manufacturing Engineering Intern
Position Summary:
This internship offers an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to engage on a short-term assignment at Momentive. The candidate's skill set will be matched to various roles in Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Reliability and EHS. Among various responsibilities, this intern will have the opportunity to assist with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering projects from the beginning through project definition and scope to timely execution. This position will also experience a wide variety of hands-on opportunities through direct interaction with other internal departments, vendors and distributors. All roles will focus on the successful completion of a technical project or process improvement, and documentation and presentation of results.
Job Description:
- Mayassist Operationsand Maintenance personnel, as needed, which may include, but not limited to, development, execution and completion of productivity, safety, environmental, and maintenance projects.
- Must work closely with Operators, Technicians and Engineering resources in support of preventative maintenance work, production improvement projects, and quality or productivity improvements.
- Understand how to increase profitability through evaluation and development of procedures and programs as supported by statistical analysis. (Productivity Projects)
- Must collaborate with others to accomplish Departmental, Corporate and Facility goals. Must be able to multi-task and possess excellent organizational skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum GPA 3.0
- Candidate must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application, majoring in engineering discipline (Chemical and Mechanical preferred).
- Must have excellent communication skills and thrive in a team environment.
- Must be enthusiastic with a willingness to learn and be self-motivated.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some experience in a production environment preferred.
- Experience with Statistics preferred using Excel or Minitab.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, climb, twist, turn, grasp and move about the facility. Walking, walking on irregular surfaces and balancing will be required. Hearing, sight to include depth perception and color vision and the ability to speak clearly will be required. Occasionally lifting and/or move up to 50 lbs. and the ability to comply with PPE requirements (ability to pass a fit-test and wear a respirator is required for certain positions/locations).
