The Continuous Improvement Director will Develop and support continuous improvement activities and initiatives throughout the business including operational, commercial, service, and sourcing excellence. In addition the person will manage and lead the Continuous Improvement department.

In this position, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:


  • Manages and leads Continuous Improvement initiatives at Fairbanks Morse (FM) involving lean improvements throughout FM including manufacturing, business processes, service, and supply base.
  • Will drive a results focused culture of accountability to meet performance expectations
  • Lead and facilitate LEAN/process improvement based workshops to drive ideas and solutions
  • Identify trends and process variations as part of establishing a continuous improvement monitoring system
  • Actively monitor project risks to foresee/identify potential problems and proactively identify solutions to address in advance
  • Completes post implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery has been achieved and to ensure that improvements can be made for future projects
  • Will manage department and handle all aspects of human resource management for employees in department.
  • Makes hiring decisions, manages goals & objectives, evaluates performance, decides compensation and rewards, and other related activities by following the human resources policies of the company.

Basic qualifications for this position include:

  • 8+ years of related experience (continuous improvement, lean manufacturing development and implementation)
  • Minimum accredited Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, preferably Black Belt
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial or operations management, quality, business, engineering, or related technical field. MBA is desirable.
  • Experience in managing employees and a business function.
  • Excellent understanding of continuous improvement concepts including Six Sigma, Lean, and value stream mapping
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of Partners, senior managers, and subject matter experts
  • Experience in designing or implementing a framework of continuous improvement in a multijurisdictional organization

This position requires access or potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirement, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship. Acceptable proof of US Citizenship is a US Passport, US Birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate.
