MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - LDARSUMMARYProvide the monitoring, tagging and rechecking of specified emission points in the VCM and PVC plants and the Shipping department to ensure that the Plaquemine Westlake site complies with the environmental requirements of the Clean Air Act regarding fugitive emissions.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMay include, but are not limited to, the following:Demonstrates strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety; Adhere to and carry out all company environmental rules, polices, standards & procedures.
Reports injuries, incidents and hazards to unit supervision as soon as reasonably possible.
Conducts tasks with appropriate PPE as assigned.
Responsible for personal safety and that of fellow employees.
Participate in and promote the Continuous Improvement Process.
Understand and implement the environmental regulations pertaining to Leak Detection and Repair regulations and know the operational and maintenance procedures for the proper tag placement when identifying VOC steams.
Understand and utilize computer programs for recording and maintaining records to ensure compliance with all LDAR regulations, and be capable of generating reports to the Environmental Department.
Certifiable in the use of instrumentation used to monitor leaks and EPA Method 21, required for monitoring and record keeping: Includes ability to calibrate and perform minor repairs and adjustment to the instrumentation.
Develop maintenance procedures pertaining to the LDAR program and system.
Utilize the Class II work order system to re-tag or remove tags.
Generate work sheets/work orders to follow-up on leak repairs; this includes tracking 5-day and 15-day shutdown repairs.
Perform internal audits of the LDAR regulations at any Westlake site; utilizing good communication skills to provide feedback for corrective actions.
Perform all duties in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
Must be capable of using SAP for ordering materials and for checking work orders generated for fugitive emissions.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma or equivalent
Good communications skills, both verbal and written
Proficient computer, reading and comprehension skills
Capable of using computer systems for recording and communicating
Must be capable of reading and understanding P&ID's
Knowledge of the different processes at the Plaquemine site
Ability to understand and use instrumentation for emission monitoring
Understanding of maintenance and operational procedures at the Plaquemine site, and understanding of environmental regulations pertaining to fugitive emission monitoring is key to this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel, squat/bend, push/pull; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and infrequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe noise level in the work environment is sometimes moderate when working inside, however, some of the work may be required in the operating units which mandates usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs. Travel may occasionally be required.
