FARO is looking for an experienced, reliable, and organized accounting professional to become a valuable contributor to our Finance team. The Staff Accountant's primary focus is ensuring revenue recognition is in accordance with the Company's revenue-related policies and procedures. Other tasks and responsibilities include actively managing the accounting close processes with a specific focus on accurate and timely revenue postings.

You have:

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting or Finance and one to three years in accounting function, financial analysis or financial reporting


• Strong analytical and accounting skills.


• Hands-on experience with SAP or other large automated ERP/accounting system is required.


• Advanced level proficiency and power user of Microsoft Excel is strongly preferred.


• Firsthand experience working in an environment with complex revenue recognition.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting with great attention to detail.


• Fundamental understanding of ASC 606 and main facets of US GAAP as it related to revenue recognition.


• Self-starter with good organizational skills and follow through.

How you will make a difference @ FARO:

• Partner with Sales team to manage monthly billing and recording of revenue contracts, ensure proper deferral of revenue in compliance with standards and company policies, and reconcile associated balance sheet and income statement accounts.


• Review purchase order terms and conditions contract language to ensure compliance and identify any impact to revenue recognition.


• Partner with Sales team to ensure contracts are invoiced on time and in accordance with contract terms.


• Oversee revenue contract "Cockpit" module in SAP to ensure revenue contracts are created in a timely manner.


• Work closely with Sales teams to ensure all contractual issues are identified and addressed appropriately in advance of billing execution.


• Perform monthly revenue close activities including account reconciliations, analysis and preparation of journal entries to ensure timely and accurate revenue reporting.


• Maintain and update documentation for revenue policies and procedures.


• Preparation of revenue-related schedules for external auditors.


• Respond to inquiries from Manager, Revenue Accounting and Director, Corporate Accounting regarding a variety of financial analysis as it relates to deferred revenue recognition.


• Assist in system implementation and process improvement projects to build a first-class revenue accounting & operations function.


• Perform special projects and initiatives, as may be necessary.

Physical Requirements:

• Some lifting of lightweight materials. Occasional bending and stooping, pushing, pulling, climbing and standing, reaching, upper body and arm rotation. Frequent sitting and occasional use of hazardous materials.
