As the Manager of Corporate Accounting with General Mills, you will work with Global Accounting Organization (GAO), Corporate Functions, and Finance organizations to maintain accurate external financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and SEC requirements by maintaining and contributing to efficient accounting, consolidations, and financial reporting practices. You will lead and oversee the daily operations of the Corporate Accounting team. Additional responsibilities include contributing to an evolving set of processes and controls designed to mitigate risk as well as maintaining the accuracy of the company's reported financial results. This role is also uniquely positioned to partner with multiple corporate and finance functions to support both recurring accounting and reporting matters as well as support enterprise initiatives. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Operational Leadership
Oversee the daily operations and accounting results of the Corporate Accounting team, which includes accounting and controls process ownership for the areas of benefits, treasury and financial instruments, intercompany accounting, and complex corporate transactions. Serve as the technical inquiry and escalation point of subject matter expertise within the Corporate Accounting team.
Oversee Corporate Accounting related external financial reporting and other required reporting, including benefit plan reporting. Contribute to quarterly SEC filings and related external reporting.
Lead the Corporate Accounting team transformation toward a global operating model. Ensure the right work is performed at the right place to support the model. Proactively identify where work can be automated, standardized, and centralized to further streamline processes and strengthen financial controls.
Collaborate with other GMI functions to improve the processes that interact with accounting; increase results through strong relationships.
Monitor and review results completed by outsourced partners and centers of excellence to ensure processes accurately meet GAO needs.
Support GAO teams and cross-functional business partners by providing technical accounting, reporting, and controls guidance both on recurring matters and on an ad-hoc basis.
Monitor the external environment for new guidance and contribute to the implementation of new guidance as applicable.
Strategic/Organizational Leadership
Help to build deep functional and technical excellence within the Corporate Accounting team on accounting and controls competencies managing a team of 3 direct reports.
Partner with global Audit teams in identifying and mitigating control risks within Corporate Accounting subject matter areas.
Partner with GAO teams to assess impacts of changing business activities to accounting process, reporting process and controls, and contribute to adequate solutions to meet business need.
Collaborate cross-functionally in Finance on topics critical to company strategy and results. Primary cross-functional partners include Tax, M&A, Corporate P&A, Treasury, Investment Finance, and HR/Benefits teams.
Contribute to the development of sustainable solutions for all identified control gaps.
Lead process and governance excellence in our dynamic global accounting & controls environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
CPA
US GAAP and SEC compliance expert
B.S. in Accounting
5+ years relevant experience
Results-oriented, proactive, agile
Ability to develop and coach technical talent

Ability to work with and influence different stakeholders
English proficiency required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's in Accounting
Big Four public accounting firm experience
Demonstrated leadership skills with proven expertise supervising management and professional level staff
