Job Summary


  • In this position you will providebuilding automation system support by programming Building Automation Controllers and generating front-end graphics. Programming tasks include the optimization of HVAC schedules, temperature set points, recommissioning of control systems, and the creation and modification of HVAC control sequences. Adhere to P1 Groups engineering standard practices and guidelines.

  • In this position you will beresponsible for completing service calls in addition to working on service projects and larger projects.

Responsibilities and Duties


  • Programming sequences of operation, which meet the project requirements.

  • Developing graphical representations of customers' systems.

  • Integrating of systems and equipment into the BMS.

  • Troubleshooting, testing and commissioning BMS systems and electronics.

  • Applying knowledge of engineering principles and practices.

  • Providing technical sales assistance.

  • Conducting owner training.

  • Creating DDC Control database, user graphical interface, third party integration, and points mapping.

  • Reviewing equipment submittals for incorporation into design.

Qualifications and Skills



  • Education Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree (BS) in engineering or related field of study preferred; or

    • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with a certificate in HVAC, AAS, or BAS, or

    • Equivalent combination of education and experience. High school diploma or GED equivalent required.




  • Experience:

    • A minimum of two (2) years related HVAC controls experience.

    • Must have experience with Niagara 4.




  • Driving Requirements:
    • Must be able to meet P1 Group qualifications to operate a vehicle on company business. Must be able to satisfactorily pass a motor vehicle record check. Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.



  • Other Requirements:


    • Work Hours: Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required.

    • Must be able to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check and drug screen.




  • Certifications or Industry Experience:

    • Familiarity with the concepts of new construction and renovation/retrofit.

    • Ability to provide technical support to field labor when needed.

    • Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics. Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical specifications, construction documentation and electrical diagrams.

    • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of IP based networking.

    • Building DDC industry knowledge as it pertains to HVAC Building Automation Systems.

    • Visual Basic Programming

    • VBA Johnson Controls; Metasys first, second and third generation-database development, graphical/application programming.

    • Niagara N4 Certified.

    • Honeywell Spyder Engineering and Programming.

    • WEBs-AX Integrated Security.

    • Exposure to scripting languages.

    • Experience using AutoCAD and Visio.

    • Experience with Johnson FX, Niagara AX and N4, or other building automation platforms. Familiarity in BACnet, LONworks, and Modbus.
