Responsibilities


The candidate will report directly to the National Healthcare Actuarial practice leader (FSA, MAAA, CLU). The person will be responsible for any combination of valuation, pricing, analytics, forecasting, risk, compliance, and operations. Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance. Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision, uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.


Essential Functions and Primary Duties:



  • Provide oversight of core actuarial deliverables

  • Assist in the analysis and quantification of risks

  • Assist in determining the level of contributions required to finance pension, health care, and social insurance programs

  • Provide expertise in evaluating pension plan liabilities

  • Design creative ways to reduce the likelihood of undesirable events

  • Decrease the impact of undesirable events that do occur

  • Perform cost-benefit analysis of proposed activities


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science

  • ASA + designation (MAAA is a plus)

  • Experience working in multiple actuarial disciplines

  • 3+ years of project leadership experience, in particular in health & welfare:

    • Reserving

    • Pricing

    • Plan Design Assessments

    • Analytics

    • Statistical (big data) analysis & statistics



  • Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other communication languages

  • SQL (Big Data)

  • SAS or Other Statistical Languages

  • Strong communication skills


Minimum Qualifications Required:



  • High School diploma or GED required;

  • 5 years of actuarial experience

  • Achieve professional certifications relative to area of expertise, must have and preserve required licenses

  • Must be able to work in a team environment

  • Demonstrated data analysis ability

  • Ability to problem solve moderate to complex issues

  • Detail-oriented and organized

  • Effectively communicates at all levels of the organization.
