WJAX/FOX 30 in sunny Jacksonville, Florida is in search of a highly qualified, motivated reporter. Reporter will be expected to enterprise stories, provide active live shots, and use process story-telling techniques. Reporter must utilize social media/digital platforms. Must be able to work under tight deadlines and respond quickly to breaking news. Work collaboratively with News Managers, Producers and Assignment Editors. Reporter may be asked to make public appearances for the station. Schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Report for station's newscasts
Strong on-air and communication skills in Breaking News coverage
Excel at breaking and enterprising significant, local stories
Strong live presence in the field with a focus on performing active live shots
Work collaboratively with News Managers, Producers and Assignment Editors
Write stories for air and digital platforms
Regularly post content and engage with audiences on social media platforms
Make public appearances representing the station in community events
Other duties may be assigned.
What we look for
Qualifications
A minimum of 2 year's professional experience as a reporter or MMJ is required.
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university in Journalism or Communications preferred.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Must be thoroughly professional in all aspects of journalism.
Must be well read on current affairs and have a wide range working knowledge and understanding of general interest subjects.
