What You'll Do

About The Role:

The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for low-volume / high mix global manufacturing and plays a critical role in the satisfaction of Precor's customers. Also responsible for the flow of Finished Goods from the Manufacturing Cells to the loading docks, in a make to order environment. This position leads a team with the intent of achieving operational excellence within our warehouse and logistics operations. Reports directly to the Director of Operations and includes the following functional areas: Shipping, Administration, and Finished Goods.

The position involves a high degree of interaction and integration with managers and supervisors, from the production, planning and support departments. The Logistics Supervisor participates and supports developing plans to maintain a world class Logistics department through continuous improvement, distribution efficiency improvements, team building and growth, work place organization (5S), JIT scheduling and deliveries, high level of customer service communications.

You Will Be Responsible For: Operations/Leadership, Team Building, Quality, and Safety


  • Meet OTIF goals.

  • Enforces and supports company policies and practices.

  • Develop logistics team to deliver unparalleled customer service.

  • Communicates goals, direction and progress to logistics team.

  • Develop logistics and warehousing strategy including all required contract reviews.

  • Assists in the forecasting and auditing of departmental budgets by reviewing spending and implementing cost and quality effective budgeting strategies.

  • Eliminate organizational obstacles and roadblocks in order to empower employees in the furthering of Plant performance and departmental goals and objectives.

  • Facilitate and coach the execution of daily plans to exceed expectations for productivity, inventory control and accuracy.

  • Authorizes overtime and maintains time keeping records.

  • Coaches, assess performance, set expectations and objectively deals with unacceptable performance.

  • Maintain a high level of inventory accuracy through a cycle count program

  • Strives for excellence in department systems, processes, and tools.

  • Identifies critical skills and abilities required for positions within the function, and offers opportunities for growth to the staff.

  • Provides support for training and skills development for the team members.

  • Provides critical feedback and recognition to employees.

  • Establishes procedures and methods and delegates their implementation leads and other hourly employees.

  • Communicates and motivates employees in corporate culture and philosophies.

  • Provides quality support pertaining to packaging and delivery in order to achieve overall Plant goals and objectives. Actively pursues continuous improvement and ease of doing business to meet or exceed customer needs.

  • Ensure proper execution and implementation of all policies procedures with regard to picking, packing, shipping, receiving, and inventory management.

  • Identify, quantify, and resolve problems quickly and permanently.

  • Assesses work behaviors and work environment to ensure safe working conditions through risk aversion. Increases safety awareness, supports and implements safety projects and teams.

  • Effectively communicates the importance of emergency response procedures, safe organization & housekeeping.

  • Quickly responds to safety issues and makes ergonomically correct tools, equipment, procedures and information readily available.

  • Ensure all equipment, including but not limited to forklifts, pallet jacks, and fleet trucks, is properly maintained and inspection practices are followed.

  • Ensures that MSDS and Job Hazard Analyses are current and accessible and instructs employees on their use.

What We're Looking For

To Be Successful in the Role:

Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job, will be considered.


  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or related field preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years management/supervisory experience in a manufacturing and distribution environment.

  • Experience in global shipping and distributing required.

  • Awareness and use of warehouse logistics, barcodeinventory tracking, and warehouse management systems, preferably in warehouse environment.

  • Supervisory experience in inventory control techniques, manufacturing a plus.

  • Works with vendors, carriers and internal departments to establish consistent processes designed to strengthen relationships and ensure compliance of Precor policies.

  • Can demonstrate knowledge and competence in areas of regulations covering storage rack weight issues and building code compliance, proper racking technique and purchase of racking material.

  • Managed a team of 10+ employees on one shift operation.

  • Successfully trained teams in a variety of areas including problem solving skills and "Kaisen" type improvement projects.

  • Experience in SAP a plus.

  • Ability to drive a forklift

  • Supervisory/ leadership skills

  • Shipping and Warehouse processes and tools

  • Continuous Improvement(Lean Mfg) and problem solving

  • Identify, quantify and resolve problems quickly and permanently.

  • Develop strategies, action plans, and metrics to monitor results

  • Effectively communicate results and issues (through oral and written communications) to a variety of audiences.

  • Listen to others and appropriately act on information provided

  • Coach and assess individual and team performance

  • Work effectively in a team both in a leadership role and as a team member.

  • Work in a fast-paced, changing environment

  • Use a variety of computer programs / systems to track results (Word, Excel, Email, Internet, etc.).

  • Ability to drive forklift or utilize material handling equipment

  • Train team members on Safety, Quality and operational procedures

Physical Requirements:

Light physical effort in an office environment. Some lifting of parts / products may be required in the manufacturing/warehouse areas.
