Fire Alarm Technician in JBLM, Washington
This position is located at Joint Base Lewis McChord and willwork under the supervision of the ProjectManager. Candidates must meet all requirements in order to be considered for the position. We are seeking a candidate who has the ability to identify and document deficiencies found during inspections; who can install, repair, program, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems from multiple manufacturers; and who is able to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, managers, and customers both written and verbally.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct confidence testing and inspection of fire alarm systems for customers;
Accurately complete system testing, inspection, correction, and work order reports
Troubleshoot, service, program and maintain fire alarm systems for customers;
Properly test all equipment after installation or repair to ensure each system performs as designed;
Install conduit, pull cable, and do rough-in and trim work when needed;
Train the customer on usage of all applicable products installed or upgraded;
Maintain company vehicle and uniform at or above standard;
Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations;
Follow OSHA safety standards;
Ensure the job site is always left clean;
Maintain confidentiality at all times;
Join the weekly rotation for taking after-hour customer service calls;
Provide your own hand tools and multi-tester
Requirements:
NICET II Fire Alarm certification or ESA equivalent
Washington State EL-06 Journeyman License
Valid enhanced driver's license with excellent driving record
Must successfully pass a drug test and complete an employment background check
Must be a United States citizen
Qualifications:
4 years' experience in fire alarm system installation, inspections, maintenance, and repairs
Experience with and an ability to troubleshoot fire alarm troubles, and trace and repair ground faults
Knowledgeable on NFPA 72 and NEC 70 regulations and codes
Capable of carrying and moving equipment or tools weighing up to 70 pounds
Ability to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment, utility vaults (confined spaces), above ceilings, etc.
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times
Preferred Skills or certifications:
Manufacturer Certifications for Fire Alarm Systems (Gamewell, Edwards, Silent Knight, etc)
Experience with Security Systems, Access Control Systems, CCTV Systems and manufacturer certifications in any of these areas.
Experience or familiarity with water-based fire sprinkler systems
