AVP, Risk Management (Farmington, New York, Philadelphia) at Allied World in Farmington, Connecticut

Job Summary:

Provide expert level consultation and services to external customers of Clients, which is essential to risk identification, selection and reduction.

Job Duties:

• Develop risk management tools, and programs. Perform risk assessments for insureds and provide education programs. 


• Function as a subject matter expert and resource for policyholders, risk management, claims, underwriters and other professionals with respect to risk management matters.


• Review, examine and evaluate potential U.S. clients and applications to assist underwriters in making decisions on whether such business should be underwritten, given the potential risk exposures present.   


• Conduct research and analysis including liability trends and client demands.  Keep abreast of evolving judicial decisions, laws and regulations, as well as medical standards of care affecting liability exposures.


• Represent Allied World at industry related forums conferences and panels.  Participate in external communications and marketing activities, including exhibitor related functions during conferences (excluding the negotiation, preparation, pricing or underwriting of specific policies). 


• Contribute to AWAC Services written risk management materials by authoring articles and developing content. 


• Staff the Risk Management Helplines as assigned, including the 24/7 Psychiatry Helpline, Healthcare Risk Management Helpline, and Psychologist Helpline

Job Requirements:

• Masters prepared RN with 5 years clinical or risk management experience. Behavioral health practice focus and/or CPHRM preferred.


• Superior organizational skills and project management experience.  Knowledge of insurance terminology. Extensive clinical and risk management experience.


• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• Indirectly works with Resource Coordinator.


• Up to 50% travel involved, including some weekend travel.
