Job Description:

Arcadis is looking for a Data Governance Specialist to join our team in New York City.

The Opportunity:

The Data Governance Specialist role is part communications, part marketing, and part project management: identifying the business need or opportunity, designing the response in the form of a data governance strategy, and building a foundation for effective collaboration across functions.

Core Responsibilities Includes:


  • Own project management processes and policies and lead the implementation of system improvements.

  • Manage relationships with key internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for improved efficiencies and collaboration within projects and ensure commercial viability and customer satisfaction.

  • Plan and allocate assigned project work to ensure timely delivery and effective utilization of resources.

  • Direct, define and lead the development and continuous improvement of project-wide processes, systems, and policies, and contribute to wider organizational initiatives to improve performance.

  • Own the data governance workstream.

Workstream Responsibilities Will Include (but not be limited to):


  • Design and execute the data governance strategy.

  • Develop data governance foundational capabilities in data specification, quality, timeliness, integration and use.

  • Lead the enablement and execution of data governance capabilities through department and/or unit and division engagement.

  • Collaborate with function leads in support of initiatives that require cross-capabilities to deliver tangible benefit to the enterprise.

  • Lead the data governance workstream in establishing and operating working groups as needed to drive consistency and critical decisioning

  • Drive adoption of the enterprise data governance focused policies across functions, units, and systems/applications.

  • Identify data needs for units and capabilities, ensuring business value is achieved and integration with technology and process is supported.


Key Attributes:

  • Proven track record in change management, process improvement, technology, and business transformation.

  • Experience managing business relationships at executive level.

  • Experience leading and implementing complex business change solutions .

  • Experience with various transformation methodologies, Lean Six sigma, Sigma, etc.

  • Previous extensive experience in transformation, risk management, compliance, audit, or consulting.

  • Demonstrated ability to absorb complex concepts and support development of actionable, achievable, and measurable improvements.

  • Experience of working in a global environment, working across cultures and matrix organization structures.

  • Demonstrated ability to build, maintain and navigate the organization using formal / informal networking skills.

  • Experience in supporting management of senior stakeholder requirements / design sessions.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide strong analytical and communication support for work efforts to meet objectives effectively and efficiently.

  • Expert communication skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline

  • More than 12 years' relevant experience, including a minimum of 7 years' experience managing complex projects.
