Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Pipeline Technician in Freeport, Texas.

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to operate the site pipeline network and safe work permitting, in pipeline corridors, in accordance with Operate Plant, Global Maintenance and other global work processes. Requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Monitors and protects Dow's pipelines during excavation activities.

  • Interfaces with the private landowners, public officials and vendor plant contacts.

  • Assists with calibration of station instrumentation.

  • Handles and processes Lock-out/Tag-out and Safe Work Permit activities.

  • Handles housekeeping within assigned area.

  • Responds to 811 one-calls.

  • Acts as a technical/process subject matter resource in the assigned operational area.

  • Performs or assists in root cause or failure analysis. Ensures thorough and timely pre-investigations occur.

  • Creates, reviews, modifies and approves operational procedures to ensure sound operating discipline.

  • Partners closely with the production staff to resolve problems, drive continuous improvement, and ensure the facility goals are achieved. Mentors new production staff, as they on-board and train.

  • Understands life critical standards.

  • Call duty rotation.

Required Qualifications:


  • 5 or more years of experience in an Operations role within a chemical plant.

  • Applicant must be willing to reside within 30 minutes of the Freeport area to cover the geographical area.

  • Adhere to Procedure Usage Policy (proper use, writing procedures, procedure reviews, etc.).

  • Will be required to complete Competent Person Qualification training (safe excavation practices and guidelines and Texas One Call notification response practices).

  • Able and willing to pass DOT pre-employment drug and alcohol screen & background check.

  • Complete Site Pipeline Operations (SPO) Department of Transportation (DOT) Operator Qualification training program.

  • Willing and able to work weekends and holidays as needed, as well as overtime and the on-call schedule.

  • Current, valid US drivers license.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Industrial Excavation and prior pipeline experience.

  • Experience with the Global work processes like Operate Plant Work Process (OPWP).

  • Experience with Global Maintenance Work Process (GMWP) .

  • Experience using SAP and Microsoft software, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.



Physical Requirements:

Must be willing and able to do the following with or without an accommodation.

  • Work in tight or closed-in spaces.

Education:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
