The Sanitation Technician will plan, direct, and control daily and nightly cleaning activities to meet established standards. Position is responsible for following proper procedures to clean industrialized equipment, ensure adherence to food safety standards and assist in minimizing down time.
Essential Accountabilities
Manage plant sanitation procedures, programs and regulatory requirements, ensuring all plant equipment is clean and safe for production
Strictly adhere to sanitation, GMP, and safety standards
Perform cleaning and sanitation activities according to Master Sanitation Schedules for the facility interior and exterior and ensure superior sanitation of equipment and surrounding areas
Mentor and motivate Janitors and Balers on shift, providing training and development to optimize performance and personal growth
Participate in regular meetings with plant management to discuss quality and sanitation improvements
Facilitate problem resolution related to sanitation and sanitation quality issues
Follow up on work orders with the appropriate associates to ensure expeditious performance of the requested work
Monitor the Chemical storage and dispense the appropriate concentration for cleaning activities
Receive and track sanitary and chemical inventory
Monitor sanitation team in the use of chemicals and proper safety procedures, checking inventory levels of chemicals and ordering supplies when necessary
Understand and demonstrate the Company's core values and operating principles
Adhere to all company policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned support to Ferrara Candy Company business objectives
Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience
Minimum of 2 years sanitation experience in the food-industry preferred
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals
Basic knowledge of HACCP, BRC food safety and GMP principles
Sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines; self-directed
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize; ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
Demonstrated knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations to include product and associate safety, product quality (success rates), throughput delivery and cost control (minimizing downtime and waste, optimizing yield)
Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office software
Working Conditions
This position requires knowledge and awareness of manufacturing and industrial sites. Protective gear will be required where appropriate. Position requires ability to work varying start times, overtime and weekends dependent on business needs.
