The SJS Executive Clinical Lean Coach will provide ongoing medical problem-based coaching and training for hospital executives, personnel and clinicians utilizing case studies from organizations that successfully applied Lean Transformation and Six Sigma concepts to become high reliability organizations (HRO). The case studies and solutions presented should emphasize specific processes and methods to reduce patient wait times, increase the processing speed of medications, decrease the number of medication errors, reduce inventory levels and render more patient-focused care.
The right Executive Clinical Lean Coach for this position will possess diplomacy, tact and an understanding of formal communication protocols to ensure key messages are transmitted to senior leadership and others in a respectful, professional and solution-oriented manner.
He or she will understand how to communicate key messages efficiently and clearly within a changing organization that is undergoing transformation, meaning he or she will have familiarity with change management processes, tools and tactics.
Responsibilities
Provide lean coaching as a direct on-the-job teaching activity, as opposed to providing general consulting
Present relevant case studies, metrics, statistics and briefings that can assist the client organization with benchmarking itself against the performance of other world class healthcare organizations
Assist the Lean Six Sigma Green/Yellow Belt Trainers with deploying and deliver related lean transformation training, including to senior leadership as well as to employees within other echelons of the organization
Provide expert consultant services and executive coaching on performance improvement and the development, deployment and management of strategic problem-solving initiatives for healthcare organizations, plus assist with maturation of the existing lean management system
Assist with implementation and management of a Service Improvement Model (SIM) as directed by the Executive Sensei (Program Manager) with a focus on a better patient care experience including shorter wait times, fewer errors, etc.
Participate in Value Stream Analysis (VSA) and mapping activities
Compose, and contribute to the composition of, various monthly and annual reports, slide decks and assessments on the hospital's Lean Transformation program to enable executive leaders at the customer facility to better understand the Return on Investment (ROI) and tangible outcomes of the program
Help develop new lean tools for the organization under the guidance of the Executive Sensei (Program Manager)
Other related Lean Transformation or Six Sigma project management or training tasks as assigned by the Executive Sensei (Program Manager).
Qualifications
Five (5) or more years of experience as an Executive Clinical Lean Coach for large-scale healthcare and medical organizations.
Strong understanding of Lean Transformation for High Reliability Organizations (HROs) in the medical and healthcare industry
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or similar related 4-year degree from an accredited college or university
