OBJECTIVE:
Systems Engineer will be primarily responsible for configuring, deployment, and supporting virtual workloads with an emphasis on Microsoft-based servers, and to assist with the support of an extensive VMware environment such as upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting as needed.

FUNCTION AND SCOPE:

  • Build, manage and operate the Windows based servers (2012, 2016, 2019) as per best practices.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience building Microsoft Clusters and High Availability nodes for MSSQL
  • Design and deploy virtual environments (along with associated components like vCenter, ESXi, VDS, clusters etc.) as per requirements.
  • Configure environments for high availability leveraging existing HA policies and technologies.
  • Develop PowerCLI/PowerShell scripts for automating routine tasks and other innovative projects.
  • Gather, analyze business requirements for Disaster Recovery and configure VMware SRM, Zerto accordingly.
  • Lead Windows server hardening as per standards and be a point of contact for audit items.
  • Responsible for configuration of patch management tool (WSUS, SCCM etc.) and scheduling patch install, server reboots etc.
  • Review technical/security alerts and develop a plan to remediate issues in existing environment as needed.
  • Develop enterprise level standards for windows servers and update
  • Provide support as needed in areas of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and certificate management.
  • Experience with Disaster Recovery strategies to work with other teams within organization and external teams.
  • Create documentation as needed (like run books) for the developed procedures and best practices.
  • Perform research and resolve system issues, client escalations, preventative maintenance, performance planning, outages, etc. for our Microsoft systems.
  • Troubleshooting and recovery efforts during outages or complex issues including but not limited to performance, functionality issues etc.
  • Handle tasks/projects independently and complete within given timelines.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as needed and address issues during off hours.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical and/or related field required
  • 7+ years of Windows Server Engineering and Administration experience
  • MCSE, MCSA or other relevant certification or preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of Networking concepts and work with Network team as needed.
  • Current, enterprise-class Infrastructure/System Engineering experience with Microsoft platforms running on Intel servers utilizing directly attached VMWare vSAN and traditional SAN attached storage.

  • Demonstrated ability to advance project timelines and meet deliverable dates
  • Ability to work with team across the board and achieve desired results.
  • Ability to lift, shift simple and heavy devices as required and perform cabling when required.
