Job Description:
The Program Instructor oversees individuals with Intellectual Disabilities in an instructive and interactive environment. A Program Instructor supports our individuals in a variety of ways from community integration via planned outings, and personal support activities such as swimming and horseback riding all with the focus of promoting independence while increasing their basic life and employment skills development. The Program Instructor has regularly required to work independently, and interact with our individuals, their families, and their external support network.
The Program Instructor works mainly in the PA Day Program located in New Freedom, PA. The typical shift is M-F 7:30a-3:30p.
This job is inclusive of, but not excluded to the following duties:
- Personal Care as needed (to include assistance with toileting, feeding, transfers, etc.).
- Behavioral Support (to include dealing with potential physical and verbal outbursts/ aggressiveness).
- Medication Administration (must be able to pass Medication Technician training).
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. as needed.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, traverse, kneel, bend from the waist, etc., as needed.
- Must be able to communicate verbally, visually and audibly.
Qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma/ G.E.D.
- Acceptable criminal background.
- Valid Driver's License with 2 yrs. of consecutive driving experience.
- Ability to pass pre-employment Drug Screen/ Physical/ Mantoux Test (PPD, TB).
