The Sr. Donor Relations Officer will work with Nantucket Cottage Hospital leadership and volunteers to identify and cultivate current and prospective donors to the hospital. Primary activities include identifying and researching prospective donors, developing cultivation strategies, and collaborating with leadership and volunteers on solicitations. In addition, the Sr. Donor Relations Officer will develop and implement stewardship strategies for current and past donors and volunteers. The Sr. Donor Relations Officer is a professional, respectful and trustworthy individual who can cultivate meaningful relationships with volunteers, hospital leadership and donors.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Develop strong working relationships with Board members and other key volunteers for NCH.
Provide fundraising-related support to volunteers as assigned.
Work closely with staff and volunteers to identify and research potential donors and then set up a cultivation strategy
Create briefings to help prepare CEO, Vice President of Strategy & Community Development and volunteers for donor meetings.
Organize and engage in the cultivation and stewardship of donors through personal contact including face to face meetings, phone calls, and written correspondence.
Prepare presentation materials.
Develop and implement a strategy for donor stewardship including communications and events.
Respond to all donor and volunteer inquiries in a timely manner.
Close donation requests professionally and efficiently.
With training, leverage database technology to manage donor identification, cultivation and solicitation workflow.
Create updates for foundations and others where required.
Represent NCH in the community to strengthen community relations, engage stakeholders, and serve as an ambassador for the hospital.
Evaluate and improve existing programs and identify and pursue new opportunities.
Work courteously and cooperatively with staff members and volunteers to ensure accurate and positive internal and external communication.
Attend meetings and trainings to stay up to date on current events and programs.
Ensure the timely and complete capture and recording of data relating to cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activity.
Be informed and keep current on best practices in donor relations and development.
Perpetuate and strengthen the organization's positive reputation to help cultivate supporters.
Assist with fundraising events as needed.
Maintain confidentiality of all donor information.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with MGB Development staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Credentials and Experience Required
Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree in a related field preferred.
5 years' experience working with major gift donors, including making solicitations OR similar experience with high net worth clients preferred.
Strong understanding of financial concepts and financial reporting.
Proficiency with MS Office: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word etc.
Special Requirements
Must be available to work evenings and weekends occasionally to complete job duties, particularly during summer season.
Must be available to work in the case of a Hospital declared emergency.
