The main objective of the Software Engineer in this role is to automate processes associated with the deployment and maintenance of IT infrastructure throughout its life cycle. This includes fully automated server deployments, upgrades, patching, and decommission. It also includes integration with functions such as data backup, monitoring systems, asset management (CMDB) systems, etc.
This position performs moderate research, design, and software development assignments within a specific software functional area or product line.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity
Complete simple bug fixes
Work closely with other development team members to understand product requirements and translate them into software designs
Operate in various development environments (Agile, Kanban, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders
Resolve technical issues as necessary
Keep abreast of new technology developments
REQUIRED SKILLS
Minimum of 1 year of professional Python development experience.
Minimum of 1 year of professional experience with web service integration using RESTful APIs.
BS Engineering / Computer Science OR equivalent experience.
DESIRED SKILLS:
Demonstrated Public Cloud experience and / or Associate Level certification(s).
Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.
Experience with programming languages such as Perl, Ruby, Java, JavaScript / Node.js, etc, and data manipulation (ETL).
Basic knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Kanban).
Familiarity of industry best practices - code coverage.
Ability and desire to learn new processes and technologies.
Basic oral and written communications skills.
