The department of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Clinical Research Participant Specialist to work on the UHealth campus. The Clinical Research Participant Specialist assists in community outreach, recruitment and enrollment of participants for clinical studies/trials. Key responsibilities of this role include scheduling assessments, completion of clinical intakes and assessments, conducting in-person and telephone interviews, marketing clinical studies/trials



CORE JOB FUNCTIONS



  • Assists with the designs and implementation of overall recruiting strategy for clinical studies/trials.

  • Sources and recruits study participants by using databases, social media, hospitals, mental health clinics, shelter programs, etc.

  • Prescreens and evaluates candidates for study participation.

  • Provides analytical and well-documented recruiting reports to leadership.

  • Acts as a point of contact and builds influential client relationships during prescreen process.

  • Communicates effectively with participants and referral sources.

  • Markets clinical trials to community and participates in community outreach events to promote study awareness.

  • Schedules and conducts marketing presentations to various referral sources.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.

  • Minimum one year of related experience required

JOB SUMMARY



The Clinical Research Participant Specialist assists in community outreach, recruitment and enrollment of participants for clinical studies/trials. The University of Miami was recently awarded a grant from the NIH under Janssen Vaccines & Prevention B.V.


Janssen is a pharmaceutical company of Johnson & Johnson. ENSEMBLE is a Phase 3 Clinical Trial designed to prove the efficacy, safety and immunogenicity of Ad26.COV2.S.


The development of a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine is considered critical to contain the current outbreak and help prevent future outbreaks. The Division of General Internal Medicine is seeking a full time Clinical Research Participant Specialist to assist in community outreach, recruitment and enrollment of participants for this project. The Clinical Research Participant Specialist function is to understand local health beliefs, communicate in the community's preferred language/dialect and can speak to the social, historical, and political experiences shaping their communities. Being intimately familiar with the local communities norms, practices and cultural values they have unique insights into outreach approaches that will lead to successfully recruit participants to the project.



CORE JOB FUNCTIONS



Assists with the designs and implementation of overall recruiting strategy for clinical studies/trials. Sources and recruits study participants by using databases, social media, hospitals, mental health clinics, shelter programs, etc. Prescreens and evaluates candidates for study participation. Provides analytical and well-documented recruiting reports to leadership. Acts as a point of contact and builds influential client relationships during prescreen process. Communicates effectively with participants and referral sources. Markets clinical trials to community and participates in community outreach events to promote study awareness. Schedules and conducts marketing presentations to various referral sources. Understands clinical protocols (i.e. Phase I to Phase IV), associated study specifications and develops effective client recruitment programs accordingly. Acts as a primary liaison between referral sources and the organization. Completes required forms during the initial evaluation: demographic form, intake form, database consent form, releases of information, etc. and reviews the criteria for the programs. Updates and maintain patient database with required information. Visits appropriate referral sources (i.e. hospitals, clinics, etc.) to market clinical studies/trials and conducts face-to-face screenings and assessments to determine eligibility; communicates with family or persons involved in participant's care. Designs and develops client education materials as needed. Attends and participates in meetings with interdisciplinary treatment team as needed. Maintains participant confidentiality at all times. Attends field related conferences/seminars/trainings as approved by supervisor. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

  • Participate in community events and activities to increase awareness of the project

  • Help design and implement culturally appropriate recruitment strategies

  • Maintains effective lines of communications (phone/emails) with potential and enrolled participants to ensure adherence to study goals and objectives are met.

  • Recruit and enroll participants into the study including obtaining informed consent, conducting interviews and questionnaire completion with research participants according to detailed procedures and guidelines

  • Conducting basic examinations such as height, weight, automated blood pressure readings, and hip waist ratios according to detailed procedures and guidelines

  • Entering data, assisting with the creation and maintenance of databases

  • Participating in ongoing UM and Janssen trainings

  • Maintaining all required research certifications

  • Assisting with other research and administrative activities as assigned.





This is a full-time regular position. Flexible hours may be needed to accommodate the needs of the clients - Some evenings and weekends. Local traveling involved. Travel to national meetings and trainings may also be required. Candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to final offer of employment being made.
