Role Summary:
The Data & Analytics Product Owner is focused on engaging business stakeholders and identifying value added features for WPS's Data Platform Modernization roadmap. They are accountable for understanding the business needs of their stakeholders, identifying novel solutions to their problems through Data Platform capabilities, and tracking the effectiveness and business value delivered with appropriate metrics and outcome evaluations. The Data & Analytics Product Owner plays a significant role in delivering high quality data product capability in alignment with the broader Data Platform Modernization vision and strategy.
In collaboration with the Scrum Master, the Data & Analytics Product Owner is responsible for ensuring quality deliverables at the end of each sprint. As the liaison for the customer, the Data & Analytics Product Owner is accountable for determining whether sprint deliverables have met the definition of done or requires additional work. Successful candidates will work closely and communicate with a variety of Business and IT Teams and must have in-depth and hands-on experience.
In this role you will:
Understand and support prioritized Portfolio and Value Stream work by collaborating with Business Stakeholders, Data Architects, and Data Engineers to create features and then break those features down into user stories
Manage the delivery of business value by owning the team backlog, defining stories, establishing story acceptance criteria and leading story refinement for preparation of iteration planning and program increment planning
Interact with stakeholders during iteration demos, or individually, to show the most critical aspects of a solution and negotiate the reality of systems solutions
Participate in the iteration demo and retrospective meetings to inspect and adapt the product or solution for the next iteration and the team's process for improvements in how they work to build solution increments
Review and accept user stories throughout the iteration as developed functionality is completed by the team
Work with other Product Owners to determine impacts and interdependencies with other teams, programs or value streams
Act as a customer advocate for team questions and seek out opportunities to connect the team with end users, stakeholders and customers to develop and improve their understanding and empathy of end user needs
Collaborate with Business Stakeholders, Program Managers, Release Management, and the development team to define and plan for releases
Work with the team to ensure features, stories, and tasks are entered, maintained, and tracked in required Agile tooling solutions

You need to have:

Bachelor's degree in related field OR equivalent combination of education and work experience
1 or more years of related work experience
We also prefer:
Base years of experience should include experience within the data management domains (e.g., Data Management, Business Intelligence development, advanced analytics, metadata management, Big Data development)
Experience with requirements in an agile software development environment
Extensive understanding of data and analytical frameworks
Experience developing new practices and programs
4 or more years of experience as a Product Owner / Business Analyst on a Scrum team with software skills including use of JavaScript, SQL and NoSQL products
Strong influencing skills with customers and Product Managers to understand the system and iteration capabilities for deliverables
Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to develop stories and to inform team and stakeholders
This role is open to considering 100% remote work, we are highly interested in applicants that are regionally local to the Madison area, to be able to come into the office on occasion after Covid-19.
