Job Summary

The Tableau administrator will oversee the Global rollout of the Tableau software. Responsibilities for this role include designing the security model and adding and monitoring site users. In addition, he/she will be responsible for building and deploying live data and extraction based-data sources locally and on cloud-based databases. This role will monitor activity on the Tableau server, upgrade the server software when necessary and configure the site infrastructure for maximum availability and performance.

Essential Functions

• Architect stable Tableau solution guaranteed for high operational availability/performance


• Set up repositories, users, reporting and security management


• Propose standards and follow best practices for performance tuning and create/maintain report design related template for dashboards globally


• Apply best practices to Global Tableau software rollout


• Manage security and authentication [Including SSL]


• Maintain data connections and other resources on the server


• Use independent judgment and technical expertise to identify, document and report issues during design, reliability and maintenance


• Provide subject matter expertise for Tableau especially in regards to data movement and handling best practices around ETL, data quality assurance and cleansing.


• Assist technical team with industry best practice for Tableau Server management


• License tracking and management (all Tableau license types)


• Manage Tableau related projects

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• 5 years of experience and Expert knowledge in Tableau Administration


• Experience with full Global project rollout of Tableau implementation


• Experience with Project Management preferably using Agile Methodology


• Expert knowledge of Tableau server administration for sites deployed on Tableau Online


• Familiar with Tableau Security


• Ablility to work with Analytics leadership to define guidelines/policies for use of Tableau and defining/implementing corresponding processes/controls


• Ability to collaborate with development teams to define and implement appropriate development and production promotion (publishing) processes reflecting strong change management practices.


• Ability to define upgrade cycle and perform Tableau upgrades as scheduled, including coordinating/communicating impacts to developers and users.


• Ability to respond to production incidents and user requests (i.e., Help Desk related functions) related to Tableau operations.


• Ability to promote/publish Tableau applications to production as requested by developers.


• Experience with Salesforce technologies and Analytics.


• Familiar with SAP BW/HANA, SAP ERP and other sources


• Familiar with license tracking and management (all license types) and administering server based (LBLM) license management.


• Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks


• Ability to take direction, work independently and learn and assimilate information quickly.


• Great communication skills


• Must be able to collaborate and effectively work in teams


• Must have a service-oriented personality


• Fluency in spoken and written English


• German language skills and international work experience are a plus, but not require

Education

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related discipline
