The Communications Coordinator will support all aspects of the media relations department in executing the departments overall media strategies and objectives. The individual will require strong organizational skills, possess a positive attitude and be proficient in both verbal and written communications. Daily responsibilities will include the collection and distribution of print and broadcast clips, transcribing press conferences, the writing and editing of press releases and media advisories and coordinating responses for all fan mail. The coordinator will serve as a host and liaison to arriving media, assisting in their daily coverage. Regular projects will include the researching, writing and promoting new stories to our in-house media, with strategic placement for local and national press. Candidates must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Will be required to work all Patriots home games and be available to travel as requested.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare talking points for coordinators and assistant coaches.
Provide media coaching for players media obligations.
Brainstorm and collaborate with other departments to create positive PR content.
Manage all Patriots media credential requests for all games, practices and other availabilities.
Coordinate press box seating and media will call for all homes games.
Assemble daily coverage reports by monitoring print and electronic media.
Update the weekly resources made available on the Patriots media website.
Proofread and edit all game releases, press releases and media advisories.
Write any assigned press releases and media advisories.
Research, write and/or promote the stories of players, coaches and staff to in-house, local and national media.
Update player bios and records sections of online media guide weekly.
Assist in the layout and design of all press materials.
Maintain records and update weekly research projects.
Transcribe daily press conferences and conference calls of coaches and players.
Host local and national media to assist in their daily coverage.
Assist in the distribution of all media information via e-mail and express mailings.
Maintain player archives and game files.
Coordinate fulfillment of all fan mail.
Write feature stories to contribute to Patriots.com and GameDay Magazine.
Oversee setup of all press conferences and media workroom.
Supervise open practice sessions and locker room media availabilities.
Special projects and assignments as business dictates
Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPAA.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisor responsibilities but will work closely with each member of the media relations staff
Qualifications
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree preferred with experience in college sports information, public relations, corporate communications or newspaper reporting.
Previous NFL communications experience preferred.
Proficient typing skills. Required to transcribe daily press conferences without errors.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build working relationships internally and externally.
Exemplary written communication skills.
Proficient in AP style guide editing and proofreading skills.
Proficient in all Adobe Suite programs, especially InDesign
Attentiveness to detail and highly organized.
Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
Attention to detail with ability to produce high-quality, accurate work within designated deadlines.
Ability and willingness to greet and assist media in a positive and professional manner.
Professional phone presence.
Experience with content management systems and research databases.
