NETWORK SECURITY(CND)

Position Summary:



The candidate will provide Network Security support to NSWC Crane in Crane, Indiana area. Support includes but not limited to Windows, Linux, Virtualization, and Networking (Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, Proxy, and Host Based Security Systems) for the on premise data center as well as the public cloud assets. The candidate will design and implement network security and monitoring devices, integrate solutions, and perform test and evaluation services in accordance with the hardware and software standards, solutions, processes, and services.



Contract Specifications:


  • Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance and able to attain/maintain a TS clearance

  • DoD 8570 IAM lvl II certification required (CISSP, CISM, GSLC, or CASP)




Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Conduct vulnerability scans for all infrastructure supporting the NREN. This includes, but is not limited to, servers, workstations, network hardware, IA systems, virtual systems, and other relevant infrastructure.

  • Provide guidance and communication on DOD mandated security requirements, documentation of Intrusion Detection System (IDS) software and/or hardware used and other topics specific to Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA's).

  • Identify and deploy software and solutions for developing Intrusion Detection Architecture for NREN.

  • Create reports showing data traffic trends and conduct scans for unsecured wireless networks.

  • Identify, deploy and maintain DOD mandated IA tools to include: Application Whitelisting, Data at Rest Encryption, HBSS, A/V, Network proxies and logging for NREN network connections.

  • Provide guidance and communication on DOD mandated security requirements, documentation of Intrusion Detection System (IDS) software and/or hardware used and other topics specific to network vulnerability mitigation.

  • Review and identify known risks according to Cybersecurity requirements and mitigate known risks to acceptable levels as determined by the ISSO to reduce the likelihood of risks to the systems.

  • Review and monitor network security logs for, but not limited to: HIPS, A/V, DLP, IDS, System logs, AAA, and Web proxy logs.

  • Configuration, deployment, security, monitoring, backup, documentation, and administration the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system.

  • Configuration, deployment, security, monitoring, backup, documentation, and administration the f5 infrastructure.

  • Configuration, deployment, security, monitoring, backup, documentation, and administration of enterprise network mapping and vulnerability systems.

  • Ensure Cybersecurity services, configurations, and infrastructure conform to all applicable NREN SLAs, MOA/MOUs, and Design Documents. Create and submit reports showing SLA compliance.

  • Maintain and update NIC.mil documentation and DNS entries

  • Creation, maintenance, and monitoring, of SIEM dashboards, queries, reports, and alerts.

  • Perform data spillage reporting, mitigation and clean up.

  • Provide Vulnerability Remediation Assessment Manual (VRAM) scanning and reporting support.

  • Respond to assigned service requests, as well as maintain and update as service request ticketing system with accurate accounting of the details of tasking performed. Documenting these details includes, but is not limited to, problem resolution, time spent, follow-on actions, resulting change requests or subtasks, and closing out tickets in a timely manner.




Required Education, Skills, and Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited University or CNSSI 4012 or 4013 or 4014 or 4015 or 4016 Certificate or NDU CIO certificate or successful completion of military training course: NEC 2779 (CIN: A-531-0009) (or DOD Service equivalent)

  • Five (5) years of professional experience in network security of an enterprise network. Must have working knowledge and experience with firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, Host Based Security Systems, and proxy.




Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience:

Physical Demands and Expectations:


  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 15 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting

  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance

  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
