VP Payroll Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the Banc’s payroll department function, service delivery, and compliance.  You will lead the day to day operations as a hands on leader of our payroll process, reporting, filings, communication, and supporting our employee experience initiatives.  Ensuring our process and calculations are up to date with Banc policies, federal, state, and local guidelines.  Participate in implementation and optimization of systems/processes. Performs all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Responsible for Banc’s payroll department function, service delivery, and compliance. 

  2. Performs and oversees daily payroll department operations.

  3. Ensures that personnel or tax law changes are captured, that overtime or bonus payments are accurately distributed, and that timesheets are submitted and retained appropriately.

  4. Ensures that equity compensation is properly reported and associated payroll taxes are properly remitted.

  5. Ensures compliance with payroll laws and regulations at the state, federal, international level and ensures that payroll taxes and payroll deductions are properly calculated and remitted.

  6. Meets payroll operational standards by ensuring the productivity, quality, and customer-service standards of the payroll process; resolves problems and identifies system improvements.

  7. Completes research on payroll-related issues, responds to and resolves payroll problems, assists management with decisions related to payroll, and effectively communicates payroll-related changes and updates.

  8. Compiles payroll data such as days and hours worked, from automated timekeeping system and other records, to prepare associated payrolls

  9. Assumes responsibility for special projects; gathers data and prepares reports for Senior Management, audits and other personnel.

  10. Oversee analysis, configuration and testing of monthly HR personnel system (“HCM”) updates and quarterly releases.

  11. Manage the development of the operational reports and audit queries needed to execute our payrolls and monitor HCM performance.

  12. Foster productive strategic partnerships across internal counterparts in finance, technology, human resources, legal, and corporate tax.

  13. Collaborates with and supports finance and accounting for monthly expense analysis and provides monthly salary and vacation accruals.

  14. Collaborates with Legal and Human Resources on policy and compliance changes that impact payroll.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:


  • Payroll subject matter expert, payroll processing and related activities to ensure accurate and timely compliance with US federal, state and local regulations.

  • Strong analytical skills, knowledge of benchmarking processes and problem solving skills

  • Advanced PC skills, including MS Windows & Office Suite

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of management, team and clients

  • Ability to quickly absorb product knowledge, process information and apply appropriately to meet client's needs

  • Ability to make decisions that have significant impact on the immediate work unit and cross functional departments

  • Ability to organize and prioritize own work schedule and the work schedules of others on a short-term  and long-term basis

  • Ability to deal with complex difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR LICENSES:


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in finance, accounting, economics, or related field; or equivalent work experience.

  • 6-8 years of payroll experience

  • Experience with Oracle HCM Cloud preferred

  • Experience with Novatime or comparable timekeeping solutions

  • Experience with ADP wage payment, payroll tax, and garnishment services




Salary:

$73,544.00
