Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The baler is responsible for operating the baling machine, constructing bales of textiles, operating the forklift to move bales to the storage area and assist with loading bales to salvage trucks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Produce bales of salvage textiles that are rectangular in shape, 6’ in length, and have five pieces of wire on each bale.


2. Check the quality of bales produced.


3. Safely operate the forklift to move bales of textiles into storage area as well as assist in loading bales onto trucks.


4. Accurately weigh each bale produced.


5. Correctly and efficiently load salvage trucks.


6. Place salvage from other regions and locations onto the salvage belt.
   
   
   

   ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILLITIES:

1. Keeps work area neat and organized.


2. Empty trash and non-useable items into the trash compactor.


3. Take part in preparing shipments for stores.


4. Performs other duties as assigned.
   
   
   

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.


2. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.


3. Must have a proper understanding of how to operate and maintain the Baler


4. Must be able to successfully complete the training to become a certified forklift operator.


5. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.


6. Must be able to understand and take direction from the Processing Manager.


7. Ability to relate to and have an understanding of the needs of people with disabling and disadvantaging conditions.


8. Ability to learn and follow HGI’s policies and procedures.
   
   
   

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

1. Preference will be give to applicants with previous warehouse, forklift and/or baler experience.
