POSITION OBJECTIVES

As an Engineer IV in Automation and Digitalization team, you will be supporting our global Biologics and Process Development team. You will provide provide technical leadership for project implementation and write custom code to support our High Throughput (HTP) robotic platforms.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES 


  • Provide technical leadership for project implementation and coordination by independently planning and executing project prioritization, timelines for deliverables and training. 


  • Assist with preparing training documentation and provide onsite support/trouble shooting during rollout or site to site transfer as appropriate for project/role. This may include leading training activities and compiling both internal and external data for presentation. 


  • Independently interpret and communicate results and own technical aspects of a project.


  • Write effective, scalable code to support our High Throughput (HTP) robotic platforms


  • Develop back-end components to improve responsiveness and overall performance


  • Integrate user-facing elements into applications


  • Test and debug programs


  • Improve functionality of existing systems


  • Assess and prioritize feature requests


  • Coordinate with internal teams to understand user requirements and provide technical solutions


  • Assists with the development of project strategy and communicates complex data/decisions within department and cross functionally as necessary


  • Supports local initiatives as directed by supervisor and participates in global or functional initiatives as appropriate.


  • Serves as a technical resource for junior staff and leverages expertise in programming as a functional resource/trainer.


  • Coordinates within departmental as well as cross functionally with peers on project work


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS 

Education Requirements: 


  • Associates degree in computer science, chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science and 7+ years relevant industry experience


  • Bachelors degree in computer science, chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science; 5+ years relevant industry experience


  • Masters degree in computer science, chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science;  3+ years relevant industry experience,  


  • Previous experience working in lab setting


TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Work experience as a developer


  • Expertise in at least one object oriented language (Python, JAVA, C++)


  • Knowledge of object-relational mapping (ORM)


  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (like JavaScript and HTML5)


  • Team spirit


  • Good problem-solving skills


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with high throughput laboratory robotic systems


  • Experience with biologics development processes such as fermentation, purification and analytical methods


  • CAD software or 3D printing
