This position is for a Senior Mounted Combat Operations Analyst located at Ft. Benning, GA. The qualified candidate may possess Army or Marine Corps experience. Qualified candidates with an Army background should possess Master Gunner qualifications and have extensive operational experience serving in US Army motorized/mechanized infantry units (Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Cavalry Regiment, or Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition). Qualified candidates with a Marine Corps background should possess Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR) Master Gunner qualifications and have extensive operational experience serving in Marine LAR units. All qualified candidates should possess extensive knowledge of the various Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) variants and other variants of the US Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected family of vehicles, as well as experience conducting combat operations from that family of vehicles. Qualified candidates must have performed duties as a Platoon Sergeant, or higher, during mounted combat operations. The selected candidate will serve as a member of a cross-functional team conducting comprehensive analysis of mounted US combat engagements with additional focus on those resulting in US combat casualties. The team collects, integrates, and analyzes all-source intelligence, operations, materiel, and medical data to produce information and products that inform Warfighters, combat trainers, combat developers, and doctrine writers of current and emerging combat trends, enemy Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) and potential shortfalls in US TTPs, equipment, support, training, and/or doctrine.
Key Responsibilities
Specific duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Collect, integrate, and analyze unit/theater operational reports and information to determine/identify:
Friendly force composition - number and variant of vehicles in formation, vehicle order of movement, vehicle speed and interval, vehicle formation and maneuvers employed, crew compliment/crew positions filled, element task and purpose, geographical location of incident
Engagement timelines and force actions/reactions, friendly force TTPs employed, observed strengths and potential areas for improvement in TTPs and/or doctrine, use and success or failure of vehicle protective measures
Struck vehicle position in the order of movement, strike location on the vehicle, damage sustained, and casualties incurred within the vehicle
Enter discrete data elements characterizing above information into relational database
When necessary and appropriate, conduct interviews/debriefs of Wounded Warriors and other personnel present during selected casualty-producing combat incidents to fill critical information gaps
Develop, produce, and disseminate detailed analytical case studies on selected casualty-producing combat incidents in report and formal presentation formats
Identify and analyze trends in vehicle combat damage, associated injuries to crewmembers, and enemy weapons inflicting damage and injuries
Participate on cross-functional teams working to develop effective solutions to identified shortfalls in training, TTPs, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), mobile systems, and other combat equipment
Present analytical findings, issues, and information clearly and effectively in formal letters, reports, research papers, and studies
Provide feedback to and interaction with units, schools, agencies, and Senior Leaders across DoD concerning lessons learned and best practices observed during combat incident analysis
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree: Degree requirement may be waived by designated represented based upon customer's favorable review of resume detailing exceptionally strong job related experience and/or special skills
Possess and maintain, as a minimum, an active secret security clearance
Ten years of experience as a member of motorized/mechanized infantry units
Verifiable experience in performance of duties as a Vehicle Commander or higher in motorized/mechanized infantry units during combat operations
Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office suite of tools, basic computer applications, and operations and intelligence analysis and reporting systems and databases
Candidates that do not meet the required qualifications will not be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
At least one combat deployment as a leader (Platoon Sergeant or above) of a motorized/mechanized infantry unit or Marine LAR infantry unit.
Graduate of Master Gunner Common Core, Stryker Master Gunner, Bradley Master Gunner, Stryker Leaders, Bradley Leaders, and/or Cavalry Leaders course(s) and/or Marine LAR Master Gunner and LAR Leaders Courses.
Experience as a Vehicle Commander of an ATGM Stryker crew and/or experience as a Vehicle Commander of LAV crew.
