Job Description:

Engineer, Product Control - Specialty Plate, Sales and Marketing

Engineers participates as a team member and may provide technical leadership to other engineers in group settings. The ideal candidate is comfortable independently performing engineering assignments for members of the department and/or company in a wide range of engineering disciplines and prepared or presents interpretation of findings for review.



Job Responsibilities


  • Provide metallurgical technical support to the commercial team.

  • Promptly reply to customer order inquiries.

  • Create and develop technical instructions to support order plans.

  • Assist in metallurgical investigations related to claims.

  • Use Six Sigma methodology for the analysis of quality, costs and critical process parameters, and interpret the analysis to determine process capabilities, performance and for problem solving.

  • Conduct project work related to new technologies, process improvements and product development

  • Participate in professional society meetings

  • Other duties as assigned




Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering.

  • At least 2 years' experience in the Steel Industry

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, vertically and horizontally, within the company as well as with customers, sub-contractors, and suppliers

  • Strong decision-making skills based on an analytical approach to technical problem solving

  • Ability to set goals, establish and implement standards, while working within a team approach to accomplish overall goals and objectives

  • Must be able to readily adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, and conflicting objectives due to constant interaction with many departments


Preferred Requirements


  • Five to 10 years in industrial manufacturing experience

  • Familiarity with ASTM, ASME standards preferred

  • Previous steel industry experience in Metallurgy, Quality Control or Failure Analysis is desired
