Job Description



AMERICAN SYSTEMS is currently seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst to support Cybersecurity Operational Testing of multiple USSTRATCOM nuclear planning systems, at Offutt AFB, NE. This position supports the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Centers (AFOTEC) ICBM Operational Test and Evaluation Team.

JOB SCOPE: Join a team of cyber security professionals, test engineers, and test analysts. Recognized expert in the design, development, execution, and reporting of cybersecurity operational testing used to determine the effectiveness and suitability of the nations next-generation of nuclear planning systems.

As a Cybersecurity Analyst you will:


  • Provide critical support in protecting our country.

  • Develop test designs and plans for the execution of operational testing and reporting on the cybersecurity capabilities of nuclear planning and alerting systems such as& ISPAN Increment Five, NPES Recapitalization, and GASNT Increment Two.

  • Integrates Risk Management Framework for DoD Information Technology for the development of cyber operations test designs, data management and analysis plans (DMAP) and test data storage/retrieval systems.

  • Uses mastery of a broad range of cyber test and evaluation knowledge crossing multiple cyber disciplines (e.g. information operations, command and control, cyber vulnerability analysis, cyber threat indications and warnings, etc.) to modify and extend cyber operational test practices and theories.

  • Applies specialized knowledge of network attack, network defense, network warfare support, network operations, and related information operations to support evaluation of cyberspace capabilities designed to accomplish network reconnaissance, surveillance, combat, training and other assigned missions.

A week in the life of a Cybersecurity Analyst:


  • Document analysis and test techniques for use in test design, planning, executing and reporting of cyberspace operational test activities.

  • Participate in, or supports, cyber test events conducted by AFOTEC teams, i.e. Non-Technical Assessments and Recovery/Continuity of Operations (COOP) Exercises.

  • Routinely document and coordinate actions with all organizations having input or being affected by the cyber security analysis methods.

  • Identify non-standard, missing, or emerging cybersecurity operational requirements, assesses impact to assigned programs and develops recommendations. Analyzes operational impact created by the incompatibility of future programs and initiates corrective actions.

  • Prepare and deliver oral presentations. Such presentations are high-level briefings, training sessions, consultations and strategy sessions with other internal/external organizational functions and activities to secure cooperation, resolve controversial matters and convey information relative to proposed changes in assigned programs.

  • Develop and prepare a variety of correspondence and other documentation, i.e., formal letters, position papers, reports, studies, staff summary packages, briefings, charts, bullet background papers, etc.

  • Attend cybersecurity working groups, planning teams, test events, or other meetings and conferences.

TRAVEL: 0-2 trips per month in CONUS, more frequent during active testing.

Job Requirements



Required Skills, Education, and Experience:


  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security Operations, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or related degree.

  • 6 or more years experience in cybersecurity, network defense, and/or network attack.

  • Must possess one or more of the following DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical Level III Baseline Certifications:

    • GIAC Cert Incident Handler (GCIH)

    • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

    • GIAC Certified Enterprise Defender (GCED)

    • Cisco Certified Network Professional-Security (CCNP-Security)

    • CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP) Continuing Education (CE)



  • REQUIRED SECURITY CLEARANCE:Candidates must have a current TOP SECRET clearance, and will be required to obtain other special security accesses and SCI to perform the work. Must have a current background investigation within the last six years from actual hire date. Candidates with a SECRET clearance will be considered, but preference will be given to those with active TOP SECRET clearances.

Desired Experience:


  • Possess one or more of the following certifications:

    • CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP).

    • CISCO Certified Network Associate / Professional (CCNA/P).

    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate/Professional (MCSA/P).

    • GIAC Penetration Tester (GPEN) or Offensive Security Certified Expert/Professional (OSCE/OSCP).

    • GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC).

    • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).

    • GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH).

    • GIAC Systems and Network Auditor (GSNA).

    • 3-5 years of experience with operations to detect, deny, disrupt, deceive and mitigate adversarial access to networks.

    • Knowledge and previous experience with network warfare, network system operations, cyber operations and information operations planning is highly desired.

    • Experience in operational or developmental testing (OT&E or DT&E).

    • Familiarity with nuclear planning software systems.

    • Familiarity with current USSTRATCOM nuclear plans and planning process.
