Summary The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and supporting all human resource related activities for the Operations, Supply Chain, Program Management and Engineering functions. This includes over 200 unionized hourly manufacturing employees, as well as over 100 professional, technical, and administrative employees. This position has one direct report (Human Resources Generalist).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Consults and supports various levels of leadership and employees including the shop floor, middle management and executive team to enhance employee performance, improve leadership skills, and implement HR related processes/procedures.
Able to administer all aspects of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, including handling grievances through all steps which culminate in arbitration. Capable of being the chief spokesperson for labor contract negotiations with United Steel Workers union
Investigates, coaches, and resolves issues in a positive and pro-active manner with both employees and managers
Counsels and coaches' employees on individual development plans, discipline, work and other matters
Assisting and/or leading the development and delivery of leadership development training and employee compliance/required training
Serves in a leadership role in support of corporate culture initiatives. Embraces corporate core values of Integrity, Velocity and Teamwork
Responsible for maintaining employee records, and representing the company in unemployment, worker's compensation, EEO, OSHA, ADA, and FMLA issues
Manages performance management system and coaches' managers on performance management and employee development
Supports the company salaried compensation programs, ensuring proper utilization, performing periodic audits while providing training to all levels of management
Responsible for developing and delivering effective communications to all levels of the organization, both written and verbal
In partnership with the recruitment process outsourcer (RPO), owns on all salaried exempt, non-exempt and hourly recruitment, selection and hiring
Will be involved with and/or develop human resource initiatives across the organization
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Bachelor Degree in Human Resources or related major; an MBA and HR certifications are preferred
5 - 10 years of HR experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
Background in Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing is a plus
Ability to lead process improvement teams
Must be a "hands-on" professional with a knowledge of employee and labor relations, leadership development, training, organizational development, performance management, compliance issues, communications, hourly and salaried staffing, and compensation/benefit administration
Strong human resources generalist and labor relations experience required
