Summary

 

The Manufacturing Engineer candidate should be self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment. This position will support both new and existing products and play a key role in the development and support of manufacturing operations as well as help to upgrade current manufacturing test and assembly methods for key products. This position will manage the plant QA/QC department and have close interaction with Production, Product Management, Engineering, and Supply Chain. Candidate must have strong verbal and written reporting skills that enable the effective communication of activities.

 

Job Responsibilities

 


  • Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods utilizing lean tools, knowledge of product design, materials and parts, process variables, tooling and production equipment capabilities, process methods, and quality control standards

  • Reduce/eliminate manual inspection and machine operation

  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency

  • Work closely with Costing and Production to estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management as required concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods 

  • Work closely with Engineering to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards

  • Applies statistical methods and data driven problem solving to supply capable equipment, tools, materials and processes to manufacturing

  • Manage plant QA/QC and direct all changes or modifications to the control plan resulting from continuous improvement activities as well as internal and external customer requirements

  • Analyze and resolve process problems as well as initiate and implement cost reduction programs to process technology

  • Evaluate and propose use of new technology improvements

  • Other duties may be assigned

 

Job Requirements

 


  • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or other engineering discipline. 

  • Five (5) years of manufacturing engineering experience in make-to or engineered-to-order environment

  • Knowledge of welding, steel stamping, robotic cells, tooling and fixture design preferred

  • Demonstrated capabilities in PLC, drive, robotics, and CNC programming; and other industrial automation preferred

  • Hands on knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to support smooth flow, standardized work, and waste elimination

  • Competency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and experience with ERP/MRP systems

  • Strong analytical skills to address BOM errors and variances, and provide input on standard costs

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
