Job Description:

OVAREGroup is looking for an exceptional Apparel Designer to join their Sports Casual International company! As an SCI Apparel Designer, you are the blend of Technical and Creative. You support the Sales/Merchandising team through the design and development process by executing innovative design solutions, providing color direction, fabric/finish, print and pattern, trim, and fit intent.  You support the Sourcing team through technical specifications, while ensuring quality execution with our factories.

Responsibilities

• Well-versed on emerging fashion trends and new technological advancements (in fabric, fibers, sustainability, health & well-being, tech, etc.).


• In partnership with merchandising and design colleagues, you will influence direction and identify product classifications needed in the assortment plan that reflect a balance between fashion and trend, for repeat and emerging/new customers.


• Participate in Color Palette/Pattern creation based on Concept,


• Initiate creative direction for color/print/pattern/fabric/trim. Partner with Merchandising to ensure approvals are aligned with all collection components, creating a cohesive product assortment that is visually enticing to our customer.


• Partner with Sourcing to ensure producibility, timely execution and accurate aesthetic based on initial design intent for artwork direction.


•  Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of technical sketches, tech packs, and art files.


• Conduct sample fit and evaluation


• Create material and customer libraries that capture physical as well as visual characteristics to be utilized in all workflow.


• Communicate with customers, overseas and internal partners on trends, details and approvals as changes occur in the assortment. 


• Collect and organize 2D assets that go into creating best-in-class, compelling Apparel customer presentations and marketing communications


• Partner with internal resources to produce visually accurate 3D product and on-fig simulations

Requirements

• BA Degree from a college/university in the field of Design, Apparel Design, Technical Design.


• 3 years of experience in Apparel Design. Knowledge of sportswear, knits and wovens preferred


• Adept technical design skills with attention to detail


• Strong Design Ability with an excellent fashion radar and color sensibility.


• Understanding of product construction


• Ability to work in a team environment


• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


• Adaptable to a change with the ability to accept constructive feedback.


• Clear communicator with effective presentation skills, an entrepreneurial mind.


• Strong Adobe Illustrator and Photo Shop skills are required.


• Computer proficiency; Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), PLM (Product Life Management) system.
