Software Engineering Advisor

Guides the company on strategic Infrastructure decisions and provides advice that has a significant impact on strategic planning. Plans, researches, evaluates, designs and develops complex network systems by applying engineering, hardware and software design theories and principles to develop a compatible system infrastructure in line with organization strategies. Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends process, product or service improvements. Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business. Leads project teams to achieve milestones and objectives. Possesses industry-wide authority and represents the organization externally. Widely recognized Infrastructure Engineering expert and thought leader by both internal and external community and is responsible for the technical leadership of a major department/multiple departments across a function.

Experience in Sonarqube Administration and customer use of its onprem or SAAS offering.

• Leverage Cloud (private or public) where possible (provision, de-provision hardware) to ensure that hardware utilization is optimized

• Work with DevOps Architects to design test and production environments for highly integrated DevOps tools

• Experienced in scaleable and resilent architectures

• Design and develop automated processes/scripts to maintain, upgrade, test, monitor CI/CD DevOps pipelines for Java, TFS and mainframe ( Jenkins, Sonarqube, DevTest, TotalTest, Zephyr, ALM , Agile tools)

• Expert in design, implementation and support of efforts to utilize containers and automate operation processes

• Provide operations engineering for the DevOps tool chain

• Enable development teams to leverage the build and release tool chain

• Implement self-serve and automation of customer service requests where possible

• Design and implement processes that detect and remedy capacity limits before customers experience response time issues with any of the pipeline tools

• Hands experience with performance engineering/testing

• Implement automation of software upgrade in test and production along with automation of smoke tests and regression tests to validate upgrades

• Support CI/CD strategy with stakeholders across various development, operations and quality team

• In-depth working knowledge of pipeline integration points within CI/CD pipelines and best practices in the administration and use of DevOps, QE and monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Splunk, Nagios)

• Administrative knowledge of pipeline tools, Linux/Unix environments including being able to install, tune and configure applications

• Able to identify performance bottlenecks through the use of benchmarking, profiling and monitoring tools

• Solid abilities in: architectural design patterns; coding in an Object Oriented language like Java; build tools such as Maven or Ant; scripting languages such as bash, Python, Groovy or JavaScript and Enterprise Database Management Systems

• Excellent analytic trouble shooting skills and data driven testing techniques

• Can adapt to frequent, incremental code testing and deployment

• Solid understanding of resiliency engineering and the concept of fault management and application performance management

• Self-starter that takes initiative to solve problems and learn quickly to fill knowledge gaps

• Has strong focus on customer/business outcomes and is focused on result

Must be a current contractor with Cigna, Express Scripts, or Evernorth. Evernorth is a new business within the Cigna Corporation.
