Catcher Job Summary Below:


The Feeder Catcher performs job duties within the Finishing Department. They are responsible for supporting the finishing department with quality of the folding operation to meet customer specifications and production schedule. Responsible for placing paper board cartons into feeding machines. Picking up paper board material and cartons from the end line, and placing cartons into boxes.



Primary Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:




  • Removes finished folded cartons from the press and packs them into cases.

  • Inspects job numbers on carton with job label being used to ensure accuracy.

  • Feeds product into machines in an efficient manner to obtain production goals.

  • Stacks cartons from loaded pallets and places them into feeder machines.

  • Develops, maintains, and posts logs, charts, and forms detailing quality levels, inspection data, and results of special quality studies for review by line mechanics, supervisors, and other production staff.

  • Consults with supervisor to determine appropriate recommendations and remedies for questionable products.

  • Maintains quality records as needed.

  • Performs fast paced duties to ensure machines are properly operational.

  • Performs machine checks to watch for jams.

  • Assists operators with various tasks, including; clean-up.

  • Reports unsafe conditions to the operator or management.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.





Required Skills/Abilities:



  • Thorough understanding of the product and/or process being inspected.

  • Thorough attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Thorough understanding of technical written (and verbal)

  • Basic computer and data entry skills.

  • Visual color discrimination, the ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of colors.

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.

  • Good attendance

  • The ability to work with other team members and participate in teamwork and team processes.

Education/Experience:



  • High School Diploma preferred, technical school education, or equivalent. Mathematics emphasis preferred.


Color Management



  • Successfully passing a vision assessment



Language Skills



  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.



Mathematical Skills



  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.



Reasoning Ability



  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.

    • Must be able to work any shift.

    • Must be able to work overtime as required.

    • Must be able to perform the job in the physical plant location.

Frequently required to use eye, hand and foot coordination when making load change. Hand coordination is required of both hands for simple grasping.

    • The employee must not be colorblind

    • The employee is frequently required to lift under 10 pounds and between 40-45 pounds.

    • Frequent/strenuous physical effort (lifting, moving heavy objects, etc.) required.

    • Must be able to push, pull, and carry up to 40 pounds.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to dust, fumes, vibration, toxic conditions, powder spray, heat, cold, and potential work hazards from the dryers.

    • The noise level in the work environment is loud.

    • Personal Protective Equipment is required. This includes; steel toe shoes, safety glasses, ear protections, and gloves. Other PPE may be required for specific tasks.
