Senior Product Manager at Ascensus in Anchorage, Alaska

Job Description:

Position Purpose:

The Senior Product Manager works with considerable autonomy and independence and is responsible for the RPS products assigned. The Senior Product Manager is expected to develop and manage expense, revenue, profitability and business operating plan goals. This individual is responsible for product analysis and planning, marketing and competitive analysis. The Senior Product Manager is responsible to obtain and prioritize product and customer requirements and assist the Product Owner in defining the product vision. The Senior Product Manager is a coach and mentor to other product managers and associate product managers who may or may not be direct reports. This role is responsible to lead discussions with stakeholders, other product managers and the Product Operations teams to deliver successful products and services to support the organization's overall strategy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Coach and mentor other product managers and associate product managers. (Note: this position may or may not have direct reports)

  • Manage the complete product lifecycle from concept through rationalization/sunset

  • Initiate the analysis and development of product roadmaps across product lines to include competitive analysis;

  • Define features and requirements to ensure product success developing necessary business cases as needed

  • Responsible for direct oversight and development of revenue, expense, profitability and operating plan objectives for assigned products and services

  • Analyze, define and refine pricing models based on market, industry and competitor trends

  • Understand customer workflow at a very deep level, in order to translate market requirements to product development

  • Deliver marketing and product research and development analysis with prioritized features and corresponding justification based on in-depth subject matter expertise and understanding of the market

  • Identify customer needs, project success and collaboration, and develop ROI with the Product Owner

  • Work closely with the Product Operations to ensure successful and timely product releases of new and existing products

  • Ensure retirement of end-of-life products and services and customer migration without jeopardizing organizational goals for revenue and customer retention

  • Develop communications to all affected internal and external clients, including RPS and PSG areas as needed

  • Work with external third parties and relationship management team to assess partnerships

  • Run beta and pilot programs with early stage products

  • Collaborate with other Product Managers, Product Owners, and stakeholders to develop short and long range development plans and evaluate integration with other products

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Act as a leader within the company

  • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in business management or administration, or other related field or equivalent work experience. Additional education and/or certifications are beneficial, but not required

  • Five years experience in project management or product management

  • Experience in developing product business cases

  • Understanding the retirement plan marketplace and its position in the overall financial market helpful, but not required

  • Must have or be willing to develop an understanding of governing regulations

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong follow through, attention to detail, and time management skills

  • Must be able to travel as needed
