Overview

Assist in the design, support and maintaining the organization's Network infrastructure. Installs, maintains, and evaluates network systems and communications. Troubleshoots the more complex network issues. Conducts various research and analysis regarding new technology, network traffic, potential security risk, etc. Must have extensive knowledge of Internet, computer, routers, switches, firewall, etc. As a part of the Network team, this role is responsible for all aspects of the LAN/WAN network and voice systems including planning, design and maintenance of corporate data systems and will create, verify, and review network related documents/procedures. The Engineer 3 is considered a Tier III support technician and will be called upon by Tier I and II techs for guidance. The Tier III technicians are the senior technicians within the IT Department; they lead, train, and set the example for the Tier I and II technicians. Working closely with the other Systems and Network Engineers this role works hand in hand with both Helpdesk and Systems and Network teams. This position resides in the Shared Services entity supporting its multiple portfolio companies.

Responsibilities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE
* 8+ years of directly related experience in network /engineering/administration and analysis for networking technologies to include but not limited to with routers, switches, firewalls support across multiple vendors platforms in mid to large size company
* CCNA, CCNP or other Network/Security related certifications strongly preferred
* Experience with VOIP systems and associated voice hardware/software; Cloud Hosted VoIP, Cisco Call Manager, CME routers, Avaya Session Manager, Avaya G400 series switches, One-X Communicator Flare
* Extra strong technical knowledge of concepts of Internet, VPN, Intranet/Extranets, LANs, and WANs
* Extensive experience with switched Ethernets, VLANs, layer three switching, and routing (EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, BGP), SNMP Network Management platforms / interoperability
* Understanding of traditional POTS Lines, PRI, and SIP technologies
* Experienced with SDWAN, MPLS, wireless, DS3, T-1, and Ethernet
* Comprehensive knowledge of network packets including the ability to analyze and debug OSI layers 1-7
* Strong technical experience of multi-layer switches and routers

* Strong technical experience with firewalls and VPN technology, operationally and to troubleshoot; with preferred platforms: Palo Alto /Cisco ASA/FortiGate
* Experience with Palo Alto firewalls.
* Experience with Meraki Security appliances: Switches, Firewalls, and Wireless solutions.
* Experience with administering and troubleshooting Wireless products and access points
* Proven ability working in high availability production environments
* Experience working with ticketing systems; ServiceNow preferred
* Strong organizational skills.
* Excellent customer service skills, with ability to multi-task.
* Satisfactory completion of criminal background check, meeting requirements set forth by the company as well as TSA (as required by location).
* Must maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
* Flexible work schedule may include working overtime, nights, on weekends, holidays, and be on call.
* Able and willing to travel
* Excellent time management

Qualifications

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
* Minimum of 18 years of age
* High school diploma or GED equivalent. * Bachelor's degree (preferably in a technical discipline); or the equivalent combination of education; IT technical certifications or IT technical training; or IT related work experience.
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Excellent customer service skills, with ability to multi-task.
* 8+ years of directly related experience in network systems engineering/administration and analysis in Routers, Switches, Firewall with multiple OS support across multiple vendor platforms in mid to large size company * Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Meraki Certifications (Preferred). * Palo Alto, Checkpoint, CCISP and/or other security related Certifications preferred

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand and requires some travel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.
