Schedule Days : Monday - Friday 

Position Status: Full Time (40 hrs week) 


Job Summary:


Develop, document, and implement procedures used to repair, assemble process, inspect and/or manufacture products.  Support continuous improvement efforts by investigating problems, identifying root cause, and helping establish corrective measures.  Develop operational procedures that improve safety, productivity, quality, and waste reduction.  Additional duties include the design, installation, and debugging of tooling and capital equipment.

 


  • Highly diversified knowledge of/experience with industrial operations including heat treating, metallurgy, welding, machining, thermal spray, inspection and mechanical repair concepts

  • CAD experience (Solidworks) designing fixturing/tooling, rendering prints, and creating drawings for fabrication using GD&T and ASME Y14.5 drafting standards

  • CAD experience designing shop layouts, with understanding of process flow to maximize efficiency

  • Knowledge/experience with basic computer programming languages and G&M machine code

  • Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot diversified equipment/machines and identify root cause of failure

  • Mapping, documentation, organization and control of standard shop processes abiding by ISO 9000 quality standards

  • Possesses planning and organizational skills to complete projects, provide timelines and cost estimates

  • Experience with 6σ, 5S, lean and continuous improvement tools and concepts

  • Ability to quickly learn data base systems Empire internal

  • Highly effective communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to effectively participate and lead in teams

  • Ability to work safely at all times and encourage safety culture within a shop environment

  • Exhibits an attitude toward life-long learning and seeking knowledge/skills from others’ experience

Essential Functions:


1.    Evaluate process, identify problems, and analyze or investigate root cause to support continuous improvement efforts, quality control, and eliminate waste.

2.    Develop, document, and facilitate implementation of manufacturing processes.

3.    Utilize MCAD or similar software to create designs and blueprints of components, assemblies, or weldments.

4.    Support and maintain databases and libraries including: blueprints, manuals, procedures, and related information.

5.    Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as required.

6.    Work safely at all times.  Adhere to all applicable safety policies.  Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.


Additional Responsibilities:


1.    Develop, evaluate, and improve repair and manufacturing processes and associated products.

2.    Facilitate the specification, planning, and installation of new manufacturing-related equipment.

3.    Design fixtures and selects or specifies tooling that will reduce waste and improve efficiency.

4.    Work overtime as needed.

5.    Must be able to travel up to 25% occasionally and as required - both on a planned and short-notice basis.

6.    Work within and promote corporate values.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:


1.    Strong knowledge of salvage and manufacturing processes including: machining, metallurgy, welding, non-destructive inspection methods, and thermal spray processes.

2.    Must possess the ability to clearly communicate - both written and verbal.

3.    Must possess good analytical, numerical, problem-solving and reasoning abilities.

4.    Must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of computer systems, settings, and file management.

5.    Must be familiar with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards.

6.    Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word).

7.    Strong planning and organizational skills, including project management.

8.    Ability to successfully manage numerous projects simultaneously.

9.    Strong attention to detail, problem solving and internal communications.

10.    Strong team player. Strong interpersonal skills. A self-starter who is a motivated contributor and brings a positive attitude to the team.

11.    Ability to maintain awareness and understanding of new technologies.

12.    Ability to work with limited supervision.

13.    Ability to work in a team environment.

14.    Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies and use of all required safety equipment.

15.    Must have acceptable attendance to meet all company standards and requirements.

 


Education and Experience:



  1. Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

  2. Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related technical degree OR Associate’s degree in related field and 3-5 years’ experience.

  3. Familiar with specification, installation, and application of industrial manufacturing equipment or machine tools.

  4. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S methodology, and Six-Sigma techniques.

  5. Experience utilizing MCAD/CAM software, preferably SolidWorks/CAMWorks.

  6. Prior experience with building tooling, jigs, and fixture design is preferred.

  7. Current driver’s license.

  8. Proof of current valid CDL if required by position.

  9. Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
