About the Team:

AT&T’s Video IT & Digital Architecture team is looking for a Director of Solution Architecture who is passionate about leading a team to deliver customer-centric solutions and business values in an agile ecosystem. This role is part of the team that ensures good design practices, adoption of integration patterns, common message model and API domain architecture that promotes reuse, accelerates time to market and business value.

About the Job:

As a Director of Solution Architecture, you will provide leadership in the growth and management of AT&T Video IT & Digital team of solution architects for OSS/BSS domains. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the evaluation of solution approaches, management of Solution Architecture team, as well as oversight of solutions prescribed, estimated and developed by this team.

This leadership role presents an opportunity to drive the team that provides architectural guidance and builds complex solutions. In addition to design and architectural skills, the right candidate will also possess soft skills to collaborate with stakeholders across the organization.

Skills and Experience:

• BS/MS/PhD preferred in CS or related field
• 10+ years of experience
• Understands OSS/BSS business domains; demonstrates competency, ability to translate customer/business requirements into business solutions.
• Demonstrates ability to lead people; Organize, develop, motivate the team; get results through others; excellent people management/planning skills.

• Strong experience in OSS/BSS applications (CRM, Ordering, Billing and Product Catalog)

• Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills including presentation skills
• Passion for delivering systems and solutions that manifests itself as successful projects
• Ability to dive deep when needed and strategize across tools, and create solutions across a complex technology stack
• Excellent at formulating, understanding, and solving complex, non-routine problems
• Provide guidance to architecture team managing complex solutions, identifying issues and roadblocks, and reviewing system architecture decisions
• Understanding of agile delivery principles, software development and quality engineering processes and practices
• Experience or strong understanding of DevOps processes and practices
• Experience with Public Cloud technologies (Azure/AWS) including security, compliance, and automation

Responsibilities: 

• Build, manage and grow AT&T Video IT & Digital Org OSS/BSS team of solution architects.
• Lead the definition of methodology and processes for the development of organization’s solution approaches.
• Collaborate with other directors and strategists to identify, define, develop and implement techniques to improve solution development methodologists, streamlining delivery engagement productivity, increase efficiency, mitigate risks and resolve issues for the successful delivery of the work
• Refine and improve approach for developing solutions over time and incorporate the feedback and recommendations into new solutions as appropriate
• Provide coaching to ensure job satisfaction and professional growth for the solution architects in the team.
• Provide direction and oversight into improving the security, reliability, and resiliency of the AT&T Video IT & Digital Org platform.
• Evaluate, recommend, and manage new technologies and processes that enhance the platform
• Review target state architecture to ensure the principles of well architected framework i.e., security, scalability, resiliency, and performance are used correctly in the architecture.
• Drive research and standardization efforts for platform components that make up the building blocks from which applications and services are built. Ensure applications and services are leveraging building blocks when possible.

AT&T and TPG signed an agreement to form a new entity, DIRECTV, which will own and operate AT&T’s U.S. video unit consisting of DIRECTV (consumer and business satellite services), AT&T TV and U-verse TV (excluding U-verse network assets). When the transaction closes, the job you are applying for will become part of the New DIRECTV.  Transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2021.  Until closing, this role will be a part of AT&T’s U.S. video unit.
