What you'll do

As a Sr Software Engineer - Deep Learning on the Advanced Analytics R&D Team at SAS, you will develop, maintain, and extend the software framework for deep learning algorithms running in multi-threaded and distributed environments. You will act as technical focal point for GPU development within the division.

You will:

    Design and develop high quality, testable and scalable software solutions within established timelines while adhering to R&D best practices and processes.
  • Participate in project scoping and scheduling; track progress of individual tasks and alert stakeholders of issues blocking or preventing completion of task.

  • Ensure quality through functional, unit and performance testing; develop/extend automated test framework to support CI/CD processes.

  • Maintain accountability for the entire life cycle of the code including support for both internal and external consumers.

  • In collaboration with technical writers, author appropriate level of design and technical documentation that satisfies both internal and external consumers.

  • Work closely with technical support and testing groups.

  • Work closely with other product development teams to integrate deep learning tools into company solutions and analytical products.

  • Develop prototypes and conduct performance studies.

  • Act as the technical lead for GPU-related efforts within Advanced Analytics R&D.


What we're looking for

  • You have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.

  • 8+ years of professional software development in C/C++.

  • Experience writing large scale distributed programs with significant numerical content in C or C++.

  • Parallel and distributed programming skills.

The nice to haves


  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.

  • Significant programming experience with CAS actions.

  • Base SAS programming skills.

  • Python programming skills.

  • Exposure to C++ interface for open source packages PyTorch and Tensorflow.

  • CUDA C++ development experience.

Other knowledge, skills, and abilities


  • Ability to work with open source software.

  • Ability to write documentation.

  • Working closely with testing.

  • Collaborating with technical support groups.
