We are seeking to fill an opening for an experienced Buyer position located in our Clarksburg, MD Campus.This position reports directly to the Manager of Procurement.

Responsibilities

• Networking with suppliers, vendors and transporters for the procuring of various commodities in support of product production.


• Coordinating with other functional teams in support of their requirements and placing purchase orders in accordance with the same.


• Ensuring that all the goods comply with the delivery, price and quality requirements as committed to in supplier quotes.


• Fulfilling USG compliant purchase orders and completing all required compliance related documentation for the purchasing goods.


• Evaluates suppliers' prices, quality of products and average shipping times, to determine their capacity to support Thales' needs.


• Identifies opportunities to establish Long Term Agreements (LTAs) with strategic suppliers.

• U.S. Citizenship required. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.


• BS in Business or Supply Chain Managementor equivalent experience.


• 5 - 8 years experiencein general purchasing


• Excellent verbal and written communications - Fluent in English


• Familiarity with contract terms and conditions.


• Knowledge of FAR / DFAR Flow Down requirements.


• Solid negotiation skills.


• Maintain a high ethical standard of practice


• Ability to comply with all Company guidelines, policies, procedures and embrace Company Core Values.

Preferred

• BS degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration.


• 3 Years of experience in commodity purchasing, with a focus on mechanical or drawn items.


• CPPM / CPIM certification or equivalent.


• Experience with USG CPSR events.


• Understanding of Quality Assurance Provisions.


• Understanding of ERP Systems related to purchase requirements such as MRP, Master Schedule, Planning, and Configuration Management.


• Knowledge of Engineering Data such as specification control drawing & source control drawing.
