The Risk Research and Quantitative Solutions division (RQS) is looking for a senior risk professional from banking industry who will guide the development of the next generation balance sheet risk management software suite that includes but not limited to asset and liability management, risk capital calculations and expected credit loss. The candidate must have an extensive balance sheet risk management background and direct experience collaborating with finance, audit, regulators, and legal departments.

The primary goals of this role will be to:

    Produce and evolve specific and detailed product requirements and
  1. Chart and supervise and execution of an actionable strategy to produce a competitive suite of solutions that implement the vision of ALM 2.0 / integrated balance sheet management framework.

These solutions will form a foundation of the cloud-native integrated SAS Risk platform for both banking and insurance. Selected candidate will lead and direct definition of the business problem, prioritization of features, define user experience and governance resulting in a world class ALM and balance sheet management solutions.

What you'll do

As a Solutions Architect, you will serve as the key subject matter expert and lead analyst responsible for design of the industry leading software solutions for bank balance sheet risk management to meet and anticipate customer requirements. This role requires thorough understanding of day-to-day balance sheet management activities including but not limited to:


  • Asset and Liability Management

  • Liquidity Risk Management

  • Hedging of interest rate and MSR

  • Credit provisioning

  • Stress testing such as CCAR, DFAST, ICAAP

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Closely works with the ALM solution lead and the ALM product manager to chart an ambitious actionable strategy, consistent with market demands, to produce a world class ALM solution.

  • Supervises the research and selection of appropriate analytical techniques and computational algorithms for specific static and dynamic ALM analyses.

  • Helps establish relationships with key customers and the professional community by giving technical presentations and direct customer contact.

  • Interact with clients to assess the functional and operational business needs.

  • Define and prioritize business specifications and requirements, both on business and quantitative matters.

  • Work closely with the development, testing, documentation teams through entire development cycles.

  • Keep close business partnership with domain and development teams across banking and financial service subjects.

  • Lead functional assessments to understand solution requirements for risk frameworks.

  • Present to internal stakeholders and existing and potential client institutions about the solution, industry best practice and user business problems.

  • Additional Responsibilities:

  • Represents the company and demonstrates products to internal parties and existing/potential customers.

  • Contributes to the professional community through recognized service and leadership thatenhance the reputation of the company and its analytical products.

  • Regularly participates in industry events as a domain expert speaking on behalf of the corporation at conferences and events.

  • Travel as business needs require.

Location: Cary, NC.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Excellent knowledge and significant experience in Risk Management practices and Risk analytics

  • Knowledge of SAS and non-SAS software, preferably involving analytical procedures

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and communicate goals to technical employees

  • Ability to develop creative solutions to complex technical problems

  • Ability to remain current on trends in related and competitive software

  • Ability to identify technical and commercial opportunities for developing new software

  • Ability to handle multiple high-priority projects concurrently and adapt to changing priorities, projects and deadlines

Complexity:

  • Proven history of working on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the financial industry. Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Ensures schedules meet corporate requirements.

Interaction:

  • Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers. Interactions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.

Education & Experience:


  • Masters in a quantitative field (i.e. Financial Engineering, Mathematical Finance, Statistics, etc.) directly related to the finance industry.

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or GARP Financial Risk Management (FRM) certification preferred.

  • Requires at least ten years of direct banking experience in the field of risk modeling, management and analytics or relevant area of data analysis, modeling, or decision science.

Equivalency:

  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered in place of the requirements stated above.
