Job Description Summary

We will shortly have an exciting new opening for producer at L.A. Times Studios, a video production brand owned by Nant Media Holdings, LLC. L.A. Times Studios is responsible for a variety of projects, including “Second Opinion,” a digital series on public health, climate, technology and other topics, and Bravo’s television adaptation of the hit Los Angeles Times podcast “Dirty John.”

The producer will be responsible for generating content across the Studios pipeline, including personality-driven talk shows, and hosted documentary and non-hosted documentary content. The tone and tenor of our products will vary widely, and the producer should be comfortable working across topics (current events, arts, culture).

The role will report to the executive producer of Studios.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• The producer, Studios, will develop original programing from inception through execution and delivery. Producer is an enthusiastic pitcher of ideas and is zealous about turning ideas into content.


• Working under the supervision of the senior producer, Studios, the producer will be responsible for all elements of execution, from pre-production through shoot and post.


• Has a keen understanding of production budgets and is a prudent steward of resources.


• Acts with independence and autonomy but keeps the senior producer and executive producer closely informed along the way.


• Works well with others — partners well with DPs and editors, and is an enthusiastic mentor to junior members of a production, including APs and PAs.


• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least five years producing content for television or well-established digital platforms.


• Strong track record delivering original content.


• Has a keen understanding of current events, and is conversant in news, arts and culture.


• Has experience supervising productions and mentoring junior members of a production team.


• Weekend work and long nights and early mornings may be occasionally required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ten years producing content.


• Has piloted original shows.
