Summary:

The Sr. Database Administrator shall perform database administration, application deployment, troubleshooting, patching, and monitoring for Oracle Weblogic (12c and older) and 19c multi-tenant databases .

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Cherokee Nation Technologies uses the Agile Framework, team members will be expected to participate in daily and weekly stand-ups, retrospectives and sprint planning. Must be comfortable with changing deliverables, deadlines, and projects using a variety of different technologies.

Includes the following:


  • Provide support and troubleshooting for Oracle databases running on Solaris and Linux operating systems.
  • Database support - includes but is not limited to backup and recovery of systems, patching of systems, performance tuning, hardware upgrades, operational configurations, resource optimization, etc.
  • Perform database design to ensure availability, integrity, and performance.
  • Write disaster recovery plans
  • Perform installation, configuration, migration, upgrade, monitoring, troubleshooting and administration of Oracle Weblogic 12c (and older) and Oracle 19c multi-tenant.
  • Responsible for standards (STIGs) being applied and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration.
  • Automation of application deployments.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to enhance platform reliability such as monitoring, tools, process and best practices.
  • Analyzing and fine tuning the server parameters (JVM Size, Thread pool size, Garbage Collection Process etc.) for achieving better performance.
  • Configuring Oracle Enterprise Manager (Fusion Middleware Control) & Setting up of Management packs to hook up into OEM.
  • Configuring Weblogic Operations Control
  • Configuring, tuning, Apache web servers in Linux environments

Supervisory/Management Authority:

  • No supervisory or management authority.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar discipline
  • 7+ years relevant professional experience required, including:

    • 5+ years of experience in WebLogic administration in Sun Solaris including installation, upgrading, configuration, tuning, and deployment of applications.
    • 5+ years of experience administering Oracle Weblogic 12c and older
    • 5+ years of experience working in Solaris and/or Linux OS
    • 5+ years of experience administering Oracle databases (12c or higher)
    • 1+ years of experience with Oracle 19c multi-tenant


  • Additional years of experience can substitute for education requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive experience in WebLogic administration in Sun Solaris including installation, upgrading, configuration, tuning, and deployment of applications.
  • Experience with Redhat Linux
  • Experience with Oracle DB management
  • Experience in working in a team environment, including cross training and documentation.
  • Security knowledge in Firewall access
  • Experience working with Oracle OID and OAM
  • Experience with JDBC, JMS, Webservices, Security standards, LDAP, SSL
  • Experience with HTTP, TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, Clustering, Load balancing
  • Experience with high-availability architecture including setting up replication and administer disaster recovery sites.
  • Ability to work well within a small team as well as independently to ensure tasks are completed within the appropriate time frame
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Function well in a fast-paced environment.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
