Job Description:

IAP is tasked to provide Field Level (AVIM/AVUM) support, and limited sustainment level (Depot) repairs, to the 1106th Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group (TASMG) Fresno, CA and the Army Aviation Support Facility Stockton, CA. Effort is in direct support of the maintenance of military helicopters, UH-60A/L/M, HH-60G, HH-60L/M, OH- 58A/C/D, AH-64A/D, CH-47D/F, UH-72, Flexible Engine Diagnostic System (FEDS), and multiple Ground Support Equipment (GSE) subsystems and aviation equipment associated with the 1106th TASMG

As the Aircraft General Mechanic you will perform repairs of engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, and perform general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti- icing, pneudraulics, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.

  • Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.

  • Reads and interprets ARMY maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using material handling equipment, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft.

  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.

  • Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.

  • Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.

  • Enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily.

  • Services engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and specialize in engine repair.


Education & Experience:

  • Must have a High School degree or equivalent.

  • 4 or more years of experience in aircraft mechanic role.

  • Experience in functions such as repairing and maintaining ARMY aircraft or related installed equipment.

  • Completion of a suffix specific basic or craftsman aircraft maintenance course is mandatory.


Knowledge & Skills: May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics, or other ARMY aircraft systems related disciplines.

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearances and access as required by the contract.
