Summary of Position

The Sr. Category Development Manager (Dollar General Baby & Child Care) is responsible for proactively identifying opportunities and developing plans to drive category growth.  The incumbent will conduct advanced analytics and develop/present data driven strategies, recommendations, and tactics utilizing internal data, syndicated data, panel and shopper data, as well as consumer and shopper insights.  This position will report to the Sr. Category Development Team Leader, Drug and Dollar.

Essential Functions


  • Conduct strategic category and channel analyses and reports, incorporating appropriate resources. Filter through several data sources to build strategies that drive superior results. Perform strategic competitive analyses by category and brand to capture trends, opportunities and challenges for core business areas.

  • Analyze and evaluate individual and groups of category demographic profiles and consumer purchasing behavior. Translate complex metrics and analytics into valuable strategic insights for consumer dynamics in supporting sustainable growth

  • Develop strategic business plans, vision, tactics and strategies for achieving category growth

  • Stay updated on consumer trends for various retail channels

  • Support priority requests for data/information/presentations to drive dynamic growth. Contribute to creating strategic presentations as credible category expert for both internal & external teams

  • Use and perform key functions of which may include Microsoft Office software, JDA, Tableau, Nielsen Tools, Nielsen panel, and Numerator

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of Customer Management experience and/or 3-4 years of Category Management experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Develop sustainable and strong category partnerships by providing strategic analytical recommendations that promote total Category & Brand growth.

  • Strategically integrate influential insights and data driven analytics to drive Distribution, Pricing, Shelving, and Merchandising initiatives.

  • Strategically leverage shopper loyalty data driven by data to discover innovative opportunities while linking customer strategies with K-C brand strategies.

  • Strong analytical and tool functionality to help bring to life new capabilities such as visualizing tools and automation capabilities.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills with abilities to work on various initiatives

  • Highly effective interpersonal communication and influencing skills Strong negotiation.

  • General business acumen.
