Producer (Temporary), WSFL at The E.W. Scripps Company in PLANTATION, Florida

Job Description:

WSFL, the CW affiliate in Miami, FL, is seeking a temporary Producer for our local lifestyle show, Inside South Florida. This position creates, leads, and organizes for multiple platforms utilizing strong editorial, journalistic, organizational and communication skills.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Develop and organize daily live show content for Inside South Florida; responsible for writing, story development and showcasing.




• Works closely with the Executive Producer, On-Air Talent and Sales to determine content needs.




• Enhance content of the rundown with graphics, video, research, and show branding.




• Execute time sensitive decisions.




• Responsible for oversight of live broadcast and up to the minute editorial decisions.




• Perform desktop editing.




• Posting content to station's Web sites daily.




• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Producer.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, communication, media or related field.




• 2 - 3 years as a television writer or producer.

 WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

• Must be proficient with newsroom computer systems, MS Office a plus.




• Excellent conversational and creative writing skills.




• Ability to write feature packages, on-air mentions, and copy.




• Ability to develop creative solutions to problems and come up with clever ideas about a given topic or situation.




• Must have solid communication and organization skills.




• Adaptable, self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven, teamwork environment.




• Knowledge and demonstration of editorial judgement, journalistic ethics and libel law.




• Understand and utilize Web analytics.




• Knowledge of iNews, Google Docs, and Final Cut Pro software is a plus.
