Overview
Quality Engineer position works directly with production supervisors, analyzing manufacturing processes for improvement using various methods of testing and inspection.
Responsibilities
Drives quality improvements through root cause analysis and ensures products are manufactured in compliance with customer specifications and design specifications.
Oversees and facilitate the implementation of Process Quality Tools (Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plans, etc.).
Audit and track all activities as prescribed in corporate and customer standards and procedures.
Develops and initiates appropriate engineering change procedures and communicates with other plants, suppliers and the customer
Establishes programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of engineering changes through testing, measurement and analytical methods, and collects data on quality and reliability.
Conducts training sessions on Quality Assurance as applicable.
Reports on the performance of the quality system to management for review and as a basis for continuous improvement.
Performs audits as applicable (product, process, dock, etc.).
Applies the Preventive and Corrective action process when potential issues/risks are identified. Provide APQP/PPAP input and support for launch activities.
Perform process capability studies and reduce process variation.
Drive quality improvements utilizing root cause analysis, process reviews and improvements, corrective actions, statistical process control in process and final inspections, quality plans and overall quality communications.
Qualifications
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
Two to four years of relative education.
Five to ten years of relative work experience.
Working experience with AIAG Core Tools including APQP, MSA, PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC and PPAP.
Strong working knowledge of lean manufacturing and standard work.
Experience in formal problem solving methodology e.g. 8D disciplines, formal reports, Six Sigma, etc.
Computer skills and use of MS Office programs, statistical software such as MINITAB.
Non-technical competencies including leadership skills, interpersonal skills (relationship building, teamwork, conflict resolution, customer orientation), communication skills (verbal, written, listening), performance skills (detailed, accurate, efficient, organized, ability to plan, motivated, committed, flexible, assertive and developmental).
Able to work productively, prioritize action items, and produce results.
Education and/or Experience
BS degree in a related field.
5 years of experience is a quality/manufacturing role particularly in an ISO 9001 culture.
