Job Description
Systems Administrator – Computer Science Department
The Computer Science Department at the Stevens Institute of Technology is looking for a Systems Administrator to start as soon as possible. We are looking for a Systems Administrator to help us in maintaining, upgrading and growing the department’s teaching and research infrastructure. You will also support a diverse office environment, including workstations, servers, printers, and supporting websites. The systems administrator will need to interact with faculty, students, and staff, as well as the Institute’s IT organization. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required.
Running the department's research and teaching computing facilities; supporting faculty, staff, and CS students; specifying and ordering equipment (servers and workstations) and software to meet specific research and teaching needs; working in concert with the university's IT organization; creating and maintaining various department websites; teaching short courses on technologies of interest to the community, such as Linux basics, shell programming, etc.; occasional evening and weekend hours are required to handle emergency situations (for example, equipment failures).
These are the qualifications that are necessary for someone to be considered for the position.
Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in system administration, systems programming, or research computing.
