Job Description:

SUMMARY


Ensures center is in compliance with regulatory requirements relating to staff credentialing and education. Provides services associated with ongoing professional development of staff at the center. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Coordinates with Center Leadership and Human Resources on recruitment, orientation and retention activities. These activities include tracking open positions, ensuring advertising for said positions is current, coordinates interviews, and provides oversight of mentor programs. Is a member of the Employee Enthusiasm Committee.

  • Coordinates with Nurse Leadership and the Clinical Resource Coordinator when hiring nursing positions to ensure adherence to Master Schedule.  This coordination includes the interview process.

  • Conducts/Coordinates new employee orientation for all new staff and completes competencies for nursing staff.

  • Plans, develops, directs, evaluates, and coordinates educational training programs.

  • Ensures the delivery of annual mandatory and continuous education for staff using internal and external resources according to state and federal regulations and company policy.

  • Responsible for coordinating, monitoring or conducting certain in-house courses, such as the NA training program, special care unit training, etc.

  • Monitors and ensures current licensure and certifications of center nursing staff.

  • Provides center staff with educational support and guidance.

  • Focuses on Quality Improvement and is a member of the QA Committee.

  • Maintains employee education and training files.

  • Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.

  • Incorporates instruction material and training aids into existing in-service programs as deemed necessary.

  • Assists center Infection Prevention and Control Officer (IPCO) with the center’s infection prevention and control program.  Serves as interim IPCO in the event the center’s IPCO position is otherwise vacant.

 


ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS



  • 2 or more years’ experience in health care field, teaching, or training and development.

  • Registered Nurse

  • Infection Prevention and Control Officer Certification or complete IPCO training and certification within 5 days of hire. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT


Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, feel, talk and hear. Employee will occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Employee may occasionally be exposed to blood or other body fluids. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


 


 OTHER REQUIREMENTS


Adheres to and oversee communication of privacy guidelines relative to the confidentiality of residents' protected health information. Participates in (or conducts) company-sponsored training to safeguard against improper use and disclosure of such information. Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and state and federal law.
